TSB Number for chattery windows?

Convertible, coupe, sedan? I have a 330Cic and the windows rattle enough to be annoying. There is no TSB that I'm aware of. Every time I bring the car in for something else I complain hoping someone will resolve the issue because some people have no rattle issues at all!

If your car is a convertible (or perhaps any model), putting a tiny bit of carboflo (BMW p/n 83-23-0-309-627) along the weather stripping fixes the issue temporarily. Use this sparingly!!!!!! Too much will streak the windows for months.

Sometimes rattling windows indicate a bad power window motor. Usually this is accompanied by noise lowering and raising the window.

I hope this helps!

Sounds like the window motor/regulator for sure! Searching on E46Fanatics.com shows this to be a fairly common problem . . . . Hopefully you still have a warranty.

My driver's side window chatters if I go over bumps, but only when it is closed. If I open it, even just a crack so it isn't completely closed, it stops making any noise. I have complained to the dealer, booking her in soon to see if they can fix it. Yours definitely sounds like the regulator, otherwise it probably wouldn't be affected when opening and closing it.

Yup, that's what it sounds like to me. Pretty common problem. I dunno if there's a TSB on it.

I called the dealer today and asked about it.......basically, I said, "hey, my windows go up and down pretty slow, and they creak and chatter while doing t too".....he said, "oh yea.....probably the regulators. that's pretty common with mid milage cars......bring it on in and we'll get it taken care of."

[thumb] I too have replaced one window regulator, passenger rear at about 120,000 miles. I'm told by many on this board that I'm not done replacing regulators yet... My regulator problem started with a slow window power-up and ultimately my window would go up nor down... I had it replaced for approximately $179.00 with parts and labor at a local independent. 3 Series window regulators are like 3 Series Control Arm Bushings, their designed for failure... These have been my only problematic bimmer mishaps. Happy Motoring

330i 2003 model. Windows are slow going up and sometimes need assistance. they click and chatter when going either direction.

Sounds like a window regulator about to fail, common failure in E46's, I've replaced 2 in 2 years, they go out after 3-5 years pretty hardcore-like.
