:( turbo project on hold...

cuz i just bought an 88iX

its a little rough around the edges, pretty high miles & the alternator went out the day after i bought it (the prev owner said he will pay for a new one... i have to install). but it is FUN.

i have to recoup some of my funds & get through the winter.. but next spring i will finish the turbo 318i.

I don't understand why somebody would want to put a turbo system on their m20s rather then dropping in an M50 or Z3 2.8... i'd rather have NA BMW over FI any day.

Kilo.. im not turboing an m20.. the turbo is on an m10. & besides u really cant do a swap on the iX (im sure it can be done but not easily or cheaply).. it is AWD & the m20 on it is modified to clear awd components. so to get 300+hp it has to be super or turbo charged.

i do not have pics yet... because ive been REALLY pissed off at it.

the 2nd day i got it the alternator went out.. then a long string of related problems (mostly due to my lack of bmw experience).. the previous owner did buy the new alternator though.

now (probably because of some stupid mistake i made).. i have another problem.. ill post a new thread about it.

so in 8 days ive driven maybe 150miles & let me tell you... it was one hell of a 150 miles. i LOVE that car... i have to say it is at least as fast as my 91 camaro i used to have.. & handles better too (all though my camaro could drift real nice).

n e way.. w/all of u as my witness the turbo project WILL NOT be forgotten. as long as i have the money & ability it will be finished.. hopefully by june.

ditto, me and a buddy just awapped the turbo system from a 91 mazda 626 GT to a 91 626 EX, BUT, we left the EX at stock compression, hehehe. yeah, the car burns em all the way through first and halfway through second, oh did i mention that the exhaust is exiting straight out of the turbo?

we are putting exhaust on it within the nextweek and are gonna run it at our local drag strip on sunday, im thinking, mid to low 14s if we can keep traction and keep it from misfiring (ignition problem). i dont know about on the edge, i think Ghandi put it best, "Learn as if you were live forever, live as if you are to die tomorrow."
