Hi There.....I took my husband's 1999 328I to the shop today, as it has been driving sluggish and just quitting on me when I'm driving down the road. He is out of the country so I took it to our local shop. It needed a new fuel filter, which eliminated the sluggish acceleration. However, it still quits. They told me that they couldn't determine the cause, as the computer showed several "Unpublished" BMW codes. I have listed them below....any help will be greatly appreciated:

P0430
P0340
P01189
P01188
P01250

Was this a BMW dealer or a general shop? A dealer would know these codes. Be careful, if the local shop is not a dealer, and could not identify these codes, they may not be the best choice to fix the problems. I'm concerned that they will use the "try this and see if it fixes it" approach, billing you for possibly unecessary parts. For example, one of these could be causing the others, an experienced BMW shop might know the interactions of these codes. For example, the P0430 error is likely caused by the P1188 and P1189 sensor errors.

SAE Code P0430
BMW-Specific Code 234
Description Catalyst System, Bank 2 Efficiency Below Threshold

SAE Code P0340
BMW-Specific Code 65
Description Intake Cam Position Sensor Malfunction

SAE Code P1188
DTC Code 17596
Description Linear 02 Sensor / Compensator Resistor Short to ground

SAE Code P1189
DTC Code 17597
Description Linear 02 Sensor / Compensator Resistor Short to B+

SAE Code P1250
DTC Code 17658
Description Fuel Level Too Low

Hello,

I was wondering if you got any answers on the car yet?
I have very similar codes and symptoms on my 96 328.
