Hello All,

I am looking to purchase/lease my first BMW. I am at odds though whether or not I should purchase/lease a new 325 or go for a used 330 (about the same price). I am looking for some guidance. Thanks,

-Carl

I just saw the same question asked by another poster in the BMW Newbiw section. Looks like everyone agrees that the 325 is the way to go. If any one has any other opinions please let me know.

Thanks,

-Carl

I haven't driven all these models but myself - I'd go for a barely used (say 1-yr old) 330 than a new 325 on any given day! Same with used 328 vs new 323 (theoretically speaking - I know they don't make this model any more). I've driven many almost new vehicles and..... they are like new! So it's simply better to get a stronger engine if the difference otherwise may be none.

Decision 330 vs 325 would be especially easy since the difference in horsepower is pretty huge (about 40HP). I'm sure these 40 ponnies give a huuuge boost of power when needed.

I bought my 330Cic 7K milage for $10,000 off MSRP. It was in 100% new condition and even had new car smell. Would always buy slightly used. ANd oh yeah, I got it on eBay.

slightly used is better b/c it still has the new car warranty for a while. Then you can opt for the extended if you think you need it. still, have it checked out THOROUGHLY! I'm always highly suspicious of practically new cars on the market. Why would anyone take the big hit in depreciation by selling a brand new car unless something was seriously wrong. I sold my Cherokee after 6 months. Took a big hit, but didn't feel too bad b/c it was a piece of crap and I thoroughly abused it in the end.

Depends on the warranty and if you have the cash to fix the car if something breaks. If you make good money and are not worried about repairs (and the 330 is in great condition) then the 330 might be a good option. If you want a solid warranty and the tight feeling of a new car then the 325 is the way to go.

41 ponies is not a ton more HP for the added cost in my opinion. Power is nice, but its not everything. If its a coupe then the 330 won't have many more options than a 325...I think its different with sedans.
