If I'm not sure that I would like to trade the arrows for F S B!

Here's a link to another stealth install. Also, I have seen the remote display taken apart and installed into the instrument cluster on non-SMG e46s. I'll post that link as soon as I can locate it.

When I had my V1 hardwired, I also had a V1 remote display panel mounted on the shelf in front of the instrument cluster. The main unit is located up next to the rear view mirror, just under the tint on the right side where it can get a good unobstructed view. If you’re not looking too closely at it, it just looks like a big rear view mirror.

Granted it’s not as low/non visible as the Stealth one display and it doesn’t have any ‘cool’ factor, but it cost a hell of a lot less then $1200 and is just as effective.

Yeah, I doubt the Stealth One display will sell well. I believe you still have to mount the V1 externally. Up top near the rear view mirror like most people. That still leaves it showing to thieves or cops alike. If I had to leave my V1 exposed like that, I'd just hardwire it myself. THere are a bunch of places you can stick the remote display V1 sells. If you have an automatic, you can even remove the LCD in the cluster that displays what gear you're in and stick the remote display in it's place. That's just as stealthy as the Stealth One and a hell of a lot cheaper. And you get to keep the arrows too.

If it costs $1200-1300 like I heard it does, than I'd rather get the Passport SRX.
Very good point. In fact, you can get a Passport SR-7 (same SRX but without the laser jammer) for like $550 off of eBay and figure $200 for installation and you have a pimp daddy radar detection setup for like $750....not bad !

That looks pretty cool. I hope someone gets it and reports back on how well it installs. I wish they would show how it works with the nav screen.

This thing definitely looks cool, but ultimately what is the purpose? You still need to mount the V1 on your windshield, or at least some location where it has a clear view of the road ahead and behind...I can't imagine a cop pulling you over and not noticing the HUGE V1 unit hanging around in your car.

If you put it up near your rear view mirror, there's this big splotch of black where the mirror mounts to the windshield and the V1 actually sorta blends in. My friend has a V1 mounted tehre on his C32 and if you aren't looking for it, you can miss it.

Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about...that is pretty much exactly where I used to put my Passport 8500 when I had it. Does the rear-view mirror block the rear antenna's line of sight?

Good point! I thought the unit got treatment under the hood with sensors in the rear and front. If not, then jeez...what is the point?

why did you get rid of it? im trying figure out which one to get...Valentine or 8500.
I actually really loved the Passport 8500 and I would recommend it to anyone. The V1 and the Passport 8500 are both great detectors. I would say that there are only three main factors to look to make your final decision:
1.) Price difference (if that matters to you).
2.) V1 has the directional arrows and bogey counter.
3.) 8500 is much smaller/more compact than the V1...V1 is annoyingly large, IMO.
I'm trying to be as un-biased as I can here, so I gave the 8500 a plus and the V1 a plus...people either prefer the 8500 or the V1...I am a 8500 fan.

I got rid of my Passport 8500 because I wanted a remote install radar detector. I purchased the Whistler 3400 radar detector. It requires professional installation and it features one sensor mounted in the front (but it does provide 360-degree protection...it's rear detection performance, based on my experience, is similar to that of the 8500), a laser antenna (to detect laser) mounted on the windshield which is a pretty small piece, and the main control unit which features the display and buttons and integrated speaker, which tells you all your info. I wanted this remote install setup because it is much more discrete when a cop pulls me over (he can't see it at all), no annoying chord(s) hanging down from the windshield, and no radar detector unit sticking on my windshield to get in my field of view. If I'm not explaining the way the remote install radar detector looks/works, just let me know, I will post a few pics showing the unit installed in my car.
