when i stop at traffic lights and step on the brake, i start to feel a little vibration of the brake (and even somewhat less of it for the steering wheel). i began to notice this after i went through a bumpy road. i was wondering if there is any problem. by the way, the car is a 04' 325i with only about 700 miles. thanks.

warped rotor most likely. If you feel the vibration through the whole car and not through the steering wheel, its a warped rear rotor. If you feel it through the steering wheel, its a warped front.

Agreed,

My old car did the same thing, when it gets bad you will get a serious steering wheel shake when braking at stop lights etc... The dealer should cover brake issues under warranty.

Thanks a lot for the info. In fact I felt the small vibration from the brake padel when the car is is standing still, not when I press to brake while it's still in motion. It felt like because of the engine vibration. Also since I only went through a very short distance of bumps and car is brand new, I was wondering if a BMW is that fragile. Thanks!

With only 700 miles on the car, I doubt if it's a warped brake rotor. Contact your service rep and discuss it with him. As for BMW being fragile, I recently attended the 2-day BMW Driving School where we did countless full ABS stops with 03 330i's without any problems. Keep us posted.

If the padel itself is vibrating then it maybe an ABS problem. I have driven cars with warped rotors and I don't remember feeling the brake vibrating. If you are standing still and you feel vibration in the brake, the only reason for it I see is the ABS system going crazy. About bimmers being fragile, I think the new ones have more problems compared to the older one, I'm talking about electronic issiues mainly, can't tell you anything about mechanicall. The ABS is electrical so I would recommend you to go see the dealer about that and tell him everything you notice and demand explanations for everything. One little thing might just make a world of difference. But what do I know. What do you guys think, could it be the ABS?
