VIN question pls help!!

Anyone please knows how to read the VIN#? I saw something before on either this board or another that shows what each number of the VIN stands for but tried the search and couldn't find it back.

Did that thanks a lot. So how can I tell what package is on the car from the VIN? Would the engine code tell me if it is the ZHP or not? It's showing M54.

If you call BMW USA directly and give them the VIN they can tell you the details of the car including option packages that the car has.

never thought of this, but does it tell you what packages you have on your car in the owner's circle???
