Anybody with nav, a newer version DVD than 2002-1, and a DVD burner willing to burn me a copy of their nav DVD?

I just don't want to spend the $100+ from the dealer for the latest one.

Any takers from all you new owners out there?

Mine's a 2002 and came with my 2004 car. Is there a newer one out there? I'll buy it if there is. I wasn't aware there was a newer one.
I'm too chicken to actually remove the DVD disc from the trunk, only had the car for 48 hours, but the case it came in says, "Copyright 2004 NavTech" on the case label. Is your's the same?

My case label says 2002. The DVD label (on the disc) says 2002-1. I'm totally bummed. I wonder why they gave me the older disc? I took delivery of my car on 13 March 2004. Do you think I'd be justified in going to the dealer and asking for the newer disc?

You've nothing to lose by asking. Just noticed the cardboard sleeve for the DVD case has a label sticker on it too. Says, "North America DVD, BMW DVD Package, 2004-2", plus long part numbers and a bar code. Anyway, I suspect I got lucky and this newer version just hit the streets. In any case I'd simply take the approach that your 50K plus car is a 2004, not 2002, and you've certainly paid for the priviledge of having the most current DVD that's available.

Good luck.

Thanks 2fast. I'm going to give it a shot. I'm supposed to make an appointment to have my car detailed. I took delivery without having that done because the shop was closed for two days. They said they'd do it whenever I could get the car back over to them. Anyway, I'll use that as my "in" for the request. I'll let you know how it goes.

OK, I am going to ask for the latest one from my dealer as mine is a 2004, although I took delivery in 8/03.

As a backup, back to my original question, you have the latest DVD, you are just the person I am looking for. So, do you have a DVD burner?

My 2004 330cic (delivered March 10) came with a version dated 2003. No DVD burner yet, but we're looking into a system to buy (specifically the Pioneer (??) combination Tivo/DVD burner).

Anyone want to trade older discs for different regiions? I have an older southeast and new england disc. I wish I could get a western disc for my road trips this summer.

If you burn a DVD copy will it still work?

You must have a CD based system because the DVD system is not "regional" for the US and Canada. I have only one DVD. Everything is on one DVD.

As fas as burning a nav DVD, I have made a DVD+R copy burning disc-to-disc at 2x speed. Burning at 4x produced a disc that did not always work. The 2x copy works perfectly. I use Sonic RecordNow DX software, but Roxio or Nero will also work fine I am sure. I did not use a wizard as you cannot select record speed with the wizard.

Did you get the updated DVD from your dealership for free or did you buy it? My car is also a 2004 but I have the older Nav DVD. I have to ask my dealer for an updated DVD.

I don't have an updated DVD, I haven't asked the dealer for it yet, I am still working on getting a copy.
