So here's the deal.

I currently have a 2004 330ci with every possible option... including SMG. With about 2000 miles on it, I took it for its first "Road Trip" to Chicago from Cleveland... about 5 hours. When I arrived to downtown Chicago, I pulled up to a light and STALLED! when sitting in first gear.. I was like what the F. SO I pulled up the Marriott pissed off and valeted my car for the weekend. Enjoyed a bachelor party for a couple of days and then headed back to Cleve. When I get on the freeway... I notice my dashboards lights flickering as I was downshifting... mostly from 3rd to 2nd... like as if the car was trying to stall again.. well sure enough 3 more times I stalled at a rest stop going from reverse to first.. and at a Toll booth. Ever since then the stalling has been very sporatic... which is weird to me.

So I take my car to the dealer and explain everything that happened. Luckily enough they where able to duplicate the flickering lights on the dash... They ran all the tests, and could not find a known issue. So they had to call tech support and they recommended that they replace the "Relay" whatever that is...so now the part has to be manufactured and is not due at the dealer until the end of the month.. if I am lucky.

So in summary...
Problems with SMG
1). Stalling while sitting in first gear at a stop.
2). Flickering dashboard lights when downshifting.

Possible "not yet proven" solution
- Replace the "Relay"

I just hope that this is not another issue similar to the infamous "Sliptronic"..or a problem where they dont know how to fix it and my car is in the shop every month getting a new part in it..

I will keep everyone updated with what happens.

It doesn't sound like a problem related to only SMG's but rather the fine german eletrical . Hope you can bear it until the parts come in . It'd piss me off everytime it happened.

Suggestion: Pay attention. This is happening with ALL current 330's with manual transmissions, including SMG.
