Weird smell with AC off

I have noticed this recently.... when I first turn on the engine, the blower blows smelly, stinky air when the AC is OFF. It is about 65 degree weather with moderate humidity. When AC kicks on, the smell goes away. That smell did not happen when the temps were above 80. Oh, and it also happens when my AC is ON and the climate control temp is set at anything higher than say 65 or so (so cold AC air is being warmed up)

Now, I do some maintenance myself, but I know an absoule ZERO about AC and blower systems, so when you reply, please talk to me like to a 5-year old. [:D] [:D] [:D] Thanks.
