What are those little holes in the high beam?

Have you guys noticed two cut outs in the reflectors for the high beams?? (I don't have xenons btw) They're in the 2 and 10 o clock positions. What are they?? I've seen a pic of a non-US 3 series where those little holes have a light in them when the low beams ( and maybe high beams) are turned on.

Yeah thats what those holes are for. I cant remember where, but you can order the lights for those.

Those little holes are where your daytime running lights would be if you decided at the dealership to have them. I chose not to have them because I don't think I really need them since I have automatic headlight control, which uses two light sensors in the windscreen to detect the amount of daylight available and automatically switch on the dipped beam whenever required - at dusk, night, dawn or while passing through tunnels.
