What problems can I foresee with a 325?

Folks,
I am in the market for a 3 series. I recently came across a sale for 325i. It is a 2001 with 49k miles with no extras on it. It was maintained at a local BMW dealership with some work done on rear windows motors.

Now, what can I expect from this car? Does it sound worth 19k? How much am I looking at maintenance costs for next 3 years? What are known problems with it and how much do they cost?
Else, am I better off with a 330i with similar config? I am dual minded about whether I should go for a BMW that costs less than 20k, or a 2003 up Accord.

Any replies are very much appriciated. Thanks in advance.

[thumb] I've got a 2000 323i with 175,000 miles on it and still going strong. First, an Accord is a good car. My wife wants one... That being said, a BMW is just plain flat out fun to drive and is an ultimate diving experience. I had no problems to speak of from 0 to about 120,000. After 120,000 I've replaced the transmission, clutch, a rear window regulator, the control arm bushings, shocks, springs, struts, A/C Compressor, all three engine pulley's, the battery, the engine automatic cooling fan and two sets of brake pads including one set of rotors. I'm getting about 60,000 per set of tires. Lastly, I got my scheduled tune-up at 100,000 with spark plugs, I get my car to every scheduled maintenance appointment at it's designated 15,000 mile posts and get the oil changed every 7,500 miles with BMW recommended oil. A Honda Accord would be a whole lot cheaper to drive but I absolutely love driving my bimmer. I will look to replace the engine between 250,000 and 300,000 miles. I believe my car worth it at twice the cost. Test drive the bimmer and the Accord then decide which automobile to purchase. That’s my two and a half cents.
Happy Motoring…[driving2]

Yes, this thing is amazingly fun to drive.. nothing like any other car i've owned.. altough thats not saying much. I've had a few minor issues which, after coming here regularly for the past 1.5 years, have found to be rather common... all fixed under warranty... but it has since expired.. :(

My suggestion is to do your research. Test drive one.. then wait a week and test drive it again.. you'll find yourself noticing thing you didn't see the first time. Also, sift through this forum.. you'll see some of the common problems that arise...

Good Luck!
