What should I know about an 86 3 series?

Saw one on a lot that looked to be in great condition. No rust, wheels looked clean, no cracked glass...but I'm expecting really high mileage since the window price was at 1400 bucks.

I did a quick check for part prices at autozone and they seem reasonable so thats not a big problem.

I'm really hoping that its a manual

Autozone? Autozone parts will last 6 months.


www.autohausaz.com cheapest parts worth the money. Autozone is for GM's and Fords (don't mean that in a bad way - they dont sell good foreign parts)

epj3 is right, Autozone has crap parts and they don't have everything you'll need. Best thing to do is find a BMW specialty shop, which will have extremely high prices, or go online and get your parts.

k, but are there any things I should look for when I go and look at the car? any particular spots that are bad for rusting or anything else?

Check floor panels, and check under the trunk and battery tray (which is also in the trunk). E30's dont rust that bad, even in the rust belt (at least, all things considered...) The exhaust will be rusy, and so will the bottom end of the engine.
