Hey Everyone,

I've found a lot of useful info in the forums so far, thanks!

I'm very new to being a bmw owner but I've loved every minute of it so far. I just installed a K&N filter today and will be installing clear corner/tail lights within the next couple weeks.

What would you upgrade next? (other than rims)

Are you going for performance or looks, or both? In terms of performance, take it one step at a time and follow the rule of thumb: air intake, exhaust, and chip. You've kind of taken care of the air intake part with the K&N air filter, now go for an exhaust. If you're not in the mood for a change of tone, a simple chip will give you some more horsepower.

I'm going for both (over time)... I've looked into some exhaust systems but as you said, I'm not too interested in the change of tone.. Are there any systems out there that don't drastically change the tone but improve performance at the same time?

go with a chip . A good upgrade is the strut tower brace for the front and rear . They look cool too. The parts guy at the dealership told me that $2000.00 gets you 20 Horsepower. Thats 100 bucks a horse. Its hard to squeeze ponies out of an already finely tuned machine..

Have you applied the chip or plan on doing so with your 325?

I have done some research on horsepower mods for my 325Ci and kinda came to the conclusion that i shoulda got the 330 instead . With a Chip, Intake , and Exhaust , you'll still be short of a 330 's 225 hp. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it because it'll give you a little edge on the streets . Go for it if you got the bread man. Suspension upgrades are great too.

2000 bucks for a chip, are you talking about a performance chip? At Bavarian Autosport ( www.bavauto.com ) they have performance chips for at most 500 dollars and they may be the same thing you are talking about...check out their site to see if they have one for your model and the info about it

Amen! However, I couldn't pass up the deal on my 325... Even though she's not the quickest of cats... she still 'puts out' enough of what I need...

For looks: Go with wheels, suspension upgrades, exhaust and perhaps an M3 style rear lip or bodykit.

For performance: Go with a full intake, cat-back exhaust system, headers, suspension, software upgrade, performance wires, udp and perhaps an Active Autowerke supercharger system. [headbang]

Way to sum it up Tom [werd]

The $2000 that the dealer was talking about was the chip, intake and exhaust by Dinan.
