Hey guys, I live closed to Munich in Germany. As an BAvarian I had no other choise than buying a BMW. E 46 320i, fantastic car. I´m a member in the BWM Tuning club "BMW blau-weiß". We the members want you guys in US to share your experience with us. What do you think is the best, regarding suspension tuning, lowering kit, springs+shock kit or coilover suspension.
I´m thinking about to install an coilover( Il ove it low), what experience do you have with Bilstein, Weitec, KW, H&R, FK, Eibach.....

Thanks[;)]

hey welcome to bmwboard friend. sorry to say i don't know too much about after market suspensions yet. i think i will be doing springs and shocks due to the price, coilovers would be nice but i always thought they were more expensive? also i don't need a high level of adjustability, though i know the shocks i am getting are 5-way.

Yes welcome to the bmwboard! I have three BMW's, two have suspension modifications. Both my 91 318is and my 98 M roadster have Dinan suspension with Koni adjustable shocks. Both have stress bars, front and rear on the 318is.

I only speak for myself when I say this...
I feel that in the US, driving is very strict; everybody wants you to go slow and be cautious and careful and to obey the driving laws very carefully. I feel that people in the US are more interested in the status of cars...meaning they like to own a Mercedes or a BMW because of the reputation, not because of pure driving pleasure.
Personally, I don't really care to drive slow and follow all those rules ALL the time. I personally prefer a stiff suspension setup and I don't really mind if it makes for a bad ride. As for aftermarket suspension kits, I feel they are all decent and get the job done of providing better handling. You just have to see what each company offers for your car (the lowering it provides, how much stiffer it makes the ride, how well it works with your car, etc.) and choose what best suits your preference. But usally, I like what Eibach and H&R has to offer!
