The 2002 325i got the look of the 2002-2005 with a front facelift, revised rear lights and new wheels

2003-more standards, center headrests on all models, rain sensor/auto headlights added to premium package

2004-new sport package wheels, auto headlights/rain sensor standard equipment now

2005-no changes except for standard moonroof

for the e46 the facelift for the sedans came when the models changed over from 323i to 325i, which is 2002 model year.

bmws usually goes through a mid-life facelift that happens about 4 years into the model run to extend the platform's life to about 8 years. (so i read anyway, when they were talking about the 7er getting an earlier than usual face lift.

I know I like the look of the 2003 325i. What years did the look change? Which years are the exact same? Thanks!
I think everyone covered your question, unless you mean the 'big' change from the e36 to the e46 body style, which started with the 2000 model (available in '99).

Actually the change from the 323/328 to the 325/330 came with the MY2001 3 series. The MY2002 were the first batch of the facelift 3 series.

Here's an FAQ if you have any more questions about the E46.
