For those of you who rotate or changeout tires (i.e. snow to performance) every several months, do you guys also get an alignment done? My local tire shop recommended that I get a 4-wheel alignment performed after each rotation or changeout. Is it worth the $40 every 6 months? On my previous cars, I only aligned when it felt off (every couple years).

Sounds like they are selling you BS. Are you experiencing any misalignment issues? If not then just ignore what they tell you.

I never get an alignment after rotations/changes. The only time I get an alignment is when I have the steering at 45 degree angle and the car is going straight. If you're really worried I think there are places that offer lifetime alignments for a one time higher than normal price.

Definitely not necessary. Plus I doubt they have the right equipment to align a BMW! When it's done properly BMW recommends placing weights in the footwells of the car. There's more to it, and most local tires places would probably mess up your alignment if they did it.

Just an FYI: You have to watch the wheel sensors as well. Some BMW owners have pulled them off, however if a non-BMW dealer or a repair shop not familiar with BMW's does the work for you make sure they are careful of the sensors.
