Since i have recently found out that staggering an Xi would be a really bad idea, i have to find some different wheels. What I'm wondering is , what offset would I need to get to have some sort of "deepdish" look with a set of "mesh" syle wheels. I'm also looking for something that will come out even with the fenders. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated!!

35mm-38mm offset is prime for non-M 3 series car. (you can get other things to fit - money makes anything work) As long as the wheels you're looking at are that offset (and hub-centric) they should pose no problem. The amount of lip means nothing, it's the wheels offset that matters insofar as it fitting on the car.

After that (depending on how wide you get em), you could throw on some mm spacers to push the wheel out further for a more 'aggressive' look. That of course depends on if you're running sports (or aftermarket) suspension, etc etc.

Shop for the right offset, and you're golden.
