Where do you store your wheel lock key? It has to be in the vehicle so you can change a flat, but the glove box seems like an easy place for a thief to find it.....

I was thinking about velcro-ing inside the spare area maybe?

Where do you keep yours?

I don't use a wheel lock...I think the alarm with tilt sensor is enough. But if I had a lock, I'd put the key in the utility box in the trunk...or maybe in the well of the spair tire?

The tool kit in the trunk is a great place to put it...or perhaps some other small storage location inside the trunk. When I had my Jetta and had the aftermarket 17" rims, I needed a key to remove any of the wheels...the place that installed my rims gave me the key inside this velcro pouch, which they suggested to keep in my glove compartment. I always kept it there because I wouldn't forget where I put it and it felt safe enough. [:)]

Do you know at what angles (axis from front to back, and axis from left to right) the tilt sensor will set off the alarm?

If there is a spot for it in the toolbox...then what is the point??? I think they will just steal your car, because it is easier, rather than spend time to jack it up right where you parked it!?

C'mon salvo. If someone wants your wheels bad enough, they will have all the keys to all wheel locks. The wheel locks, like any theft deterrent is just that a deterrent. So the wheel locks are there.....the thief may move on to the next one without wheel locks.

Actualy, stealing the BMW is much harder than just stealing the wheels. With coded driveaway protection it is virtually impossible to start without the key. You would have to tow it away, and most car theives do not use tow trucks, it would be too easy to get caught with that MO.

So....the harder you make it to steal just the wheels the better off you are.......

Adding the tilt sesor equipped alarm is also a great deterrent, when combined with the wheel locks, it really slows the theif down.

Remember the last thing the theif wants is it to take time, because time increases the chance of confrontation, which is their worst nightmare.

I guess that's the point.

bmwrocks...i see your points...but are you a thief? Probably not, basically those arguments come straight from the alarm company brochures..."virtually impossible to start" nothing is impossible. If they want it they got it...like someone said...insurance.

We need a real thief to chime in! DOnt get me wrong, for 20 bucks, i'd put them on too...anyways...

I keep it hidden in the trunk.

I recommend these wheel locks, which look just like factory lug nuts:

Found them at http://www.bavauto.com

Search for "Bavarian Autosport Lug Stud Wheel Locks"
