Well as I mentioned in my previous thread I am having electrical problems in my 87 325, and
I think it is either the back-up light switch or the wiring to it that's got a short. Does anyone know where exactly is that switch? I pulled off the dust cover from the shifter, I saw the wire which was going thrue it, but didn't find the ends...

P.S. I found the wiring diagrams for my car!!!

The backup light switch is mounted on the transmission and is accessible for a manual transmission from beneath the car. For automatics, you can get to it from topside. That is according to the Bentley manual Ch 13 p 36. Assuming you have a 5 speed, it goes on to say check the switch for manual transmissions by removing the electrical connectors from the switch and checkiing for continuity across the switch terminals with the transmission in reverse. When installing a new switch torque it to 14 ft lbs (20Nm). If you have an automatic let me know, the procedure is different. Hope this helps.
