Just wondering what people' takes are on the 7 series. Do you guys prefer the older 200o shape or the newer one. While I do like the front styling (those angel eye headlamps are so sexy) I hate the rear. I personally prefer the 2000 7 series as it looked more classy and if you have a nice set of rims on it, it looks phat!

What do u all think?[driving]

Old sytle. On the new one, the front is ok. I don't think it's beautiful by any means, but it's not an obvious must shoot the designer error. The trunk is. It's up there with the Aztek. Like greatest all time design errors.

I disagree - the designer should be shot! [:)] I think the front end is every bit as bad as the rear, and then there's the interior...

What I've always liked about Euro design, in general, was their clean, elegant lines, no unnecessary fussiness, something that cannot be said of the latest BMW 'designs'. Even Mercs have diluted their traditional minimalist/quality ethos. About the only car maker that is still sticking with pure designs is Audi (for the most part).

I just hope that BMW sees the light and starts doing European designs again, instead of Korean.

I love the 00-01 7's, very sporty lookin' lux rides, indeed. Riding on 19's 20's in the rear with a drop, they are beautiful!

The new 7, is beginning to grow on me. The more I see the entire series of cars change to the 'bangle' look, the more I understand what he's trying to do. (And since most of the other car manufacturers are doing a variation of the 'bangle' butt, it's good to know at least BMW did it first..). Can't say I AGREE with it, but cars evolve, I'm glad bangle evolved the BMW first - since everyone else is copying the bangle butt now..

Drive what you like, a well maintained BMW can last years and years, your classy car will become a classic, and still be a sweeeeet BMW.. [:)]

I think there are so many e46's out there now, there will be plenty on the road for many years to come. It's not like all of our cars are going to 'banglemorph' overnight and grow a big a$$ or something..

And the new E90 (3/4 series) is HOT.. The ride is AGRESSIVE looking.. I won't mind getting into one of those in a few years.

So lets see what Bangle's replacement has in mind. I suspect a more aggressive look (with the bangle butt intact, you watch..), but with an eye on making them more 'sporty' sedans. (The styles ebb and flow.. When the e46 came out, it wasn't immediately appreciated either, now a few years later, you'd have to take the style away from the owners at gunpoint!).

And they certainly still DRIVE like a BMW.. which is why I own one anyhow. What's more insulting, getting a kill and showing them a cool looking rear bumper, or killing them and showing them a hideous a$$)..

Actually, I used to prefer the old 7-series to the new one, but my uncle just got the 745Li and he showed it to me the other day for like almost a good hour, and now I love the new 7 !! He showed me how iDrive works and it's a piece of cake once you get the hang of its operation. And the interior is actually impressively luxurious and classy, despite all this technology you have ready at your fingertips. I am not sold on the new 7's exterior looks, but I think it is definitely a MUCH better car than the old 7, and I am definitely impressed !!

I liked the E30 3 series and the 5 and 7 series around that time. But, when the E36 came out, I immediately loved it. However, when the 5 series changed around 1994 or whenever, I was blown away. I loved that car, still think it's the most beautiful sedan shape. When the E46 came out, I immediately loved it too since it was a smaller version of teh 5 look.

I liked the current C and E classes as soon as they came out. Same with the Infiniti G35.

I don't think I should have to grow to love it when there are designs that I loved as soon as I saw them. Ugly is ugly. The Aztek was ugly when I first saw it, and it stayed ugly. The new 7 series was ugly when I first saw it, and I suspect it'll stay ugly too unless they radically change it. Yeah people copy the Bangle butt. One example is the new Solara. Does that mean it's a good thing. Oh hell no! The Solara has a nasty butt too. Credit only goes to Toyota for making it less retarded looking. However, any points gained there is taken away for the stupid decision to copy it in the first place.

yeha, the more i look at the new 7 the more i love the older 7 - just pure class. Although woudl love to put the angel eyes on the older bmw lights - would just look mean.

I also think the 2002 5 series has an awesome shape all round! That is one of the best shapes that bmw came out with!

Also really like the new 3 series convertibles.. so fluid and sweeeetttt... hope to pick up one of em soon.[thumb]

There's something about the new 7 just doesnt sit right.

Yeah, I think my problem with the new 7 is that the interior is so nice and classy and luxurious and it really does make you feel like you are driving a top-of-the-line car...easily more-so than the previous 7-series. But the outside is just not really impressive...it has the overall shape of like a spaceship and the back is just hideous !

The older design could have used a subtle update, not the bizarre look they gave it.

It looks tall and bloated, not low and sleek.

The new 7-series design has received so many complaints, they are changing it sooner than expected.

The 5-series isn't much better, and the new "4-series" photos posted recently are in the same league as the 5-series. Not good.

The company is lost in design never-never land, and will hopefully recover soon.

Who wants to spend a lot of money on a vehicle and think, "Yeah, it will grow on me"?

Not me.

At this rate, when it comes time to replace my 330Ci in a few years, it may not be replaced with another BMW.
