Window tinting pics?

Thinking about putting tint on my black e46, but in NJ it's only legal on the back side windows and the rear. I'm really not sure about the look. Could either be a major enhancement or a decision I'll regret.

If anyone can put up pictures of a 3-series sedan with that tinting set up it would really be appreciated.

Thanks

i bought my 5er from a new yorker who had tint all around - at the dmv i took it off
with a razor blade, it looks fine, not bad and its an added sense of privacy for your rear passengers. the tint on the back window is good too, stops headlight glare.

no pics of it on a 3 though, sorry

You can click on my signature and look. It's not a sedan but it should give you an idea. The back is approximately 35% and the front is approximately 70%.

Thanks Codex. That is helpful in terms of the tint %, since I was looking at the 32%. I wish you could do the front windows in NJ so they match, but I think it will look pretty good with a subtle tint. The shop I'm using drops all the way to 12% on the next tint level, and that seems like overkill.

32% must be something new . I've always dealt with increaments of 5's . ie 35% , 30%, 20% and so on . Anyway I got 35% Huper Optik , Its expensive but you can tell the difference from reg. tint by far. Better heat blocking and in my opinion looks better.

One word of warning snowsedan , you probably have all those tiny black dots that run around the edges of your windows. This is a tricky situation for the tint guys as it has a hard time adhearing to the bigger dots on the window. Talk to the installer and ask him if he's familiar with this and what guarantees will you get . I had a small problem with this with my 325Ci 's back window. It looked like shiot when leaving the shop and the guy assured me that one I come back in two weeks that it'll be more sticky and will flush up . SO BE CAREFUL and don't rush into it without getting all the facts..good luck

snowsedan04, you should probably go with something like 35% all around (meaning front side windows, rear side windows, and rear windshield). It looks nice and classy without being too dark such that cops will pull you over. Are you a youngen? Because cops really only pick on tinted window cars that are being driven by teenagers and such.

I was going to ask if the shop would tint all of the windows with 35%, even though it's not legal in NJ. I agree, it would look best if the color was uniform all-around.

it looks best all around, but I agree with MrElussive. I still look 17 or so and cops heads snap when I pass by. They only seem to leave me alone once they read my license plate. If I were still in my Civic, I most likely would have gotten pulled over several times by now for retarded stuff like front tint.

i am going through the same dilemma. i have a black 330xi and i want to get it tinted but nj law sucks. ive been contemplating just rear windows and rear windshield but ive look all around for a car to base it off of and i can never find one. i dont really wnat to risk having the fronts tinted, being 17 there are tons of stuff they can get me for

snowsedan04, the shop will tint any windows at any percentage you want. They just sell and install the tint...dealing with the legalities of it is up to the cops. Usually, cops won't really bother you unless you pull up right beside them at a traffic light. But one of my friends at school who has limo 5% tint all around, says that whenever he has to pull up next to a cop at a traffic light, he just turns on the interior lights of the overhead console. He said that he has never had a problem with his tints. I had my rear windshield tinted at 15% already, and once I get the chance, I am going to tint all my side windows at 15% as well, and just see how that goes with the cops.

I used to just roll down my windows if I was gonna be near a cop. Both front windows. Especially if I got pulled over. Worked most of the time. I did get caught finally, but it was after having had the tint for 7 years. With having been pulled over countless times and check out by cops even more, I'd say I survived pretty good.

MrE, another future court date , ya think? [poke]

35% is illegal in NJ? That sucks , its pretty light .

Made it to the tint shop today, but chickened out. One of my concerns was the dots on the windows, and they told me that there is no way to make the film adhere to them so I immediately got a bad vibe. I didn't really like the look of the 32% film they use anyway. Have to find a better installer.
