Windows roll up, then roll back down

I'll press the auto-up button on my windows and one (or both) will start their way up, then at some point stop and go back down. My guess is that it's a safety feature that senses something is blocking the window and sends it back down. So, that must mean something is triggering it falsely.

Have any of you had this problem before? Any ideas for a fix? I've washed the windows inside, thinking it could be just friction, but no dice.

Thanks for any ideas--
Mike

I had same problem, motor is getting weak, resistance to rolling up causes motor to reverse direction. Auto down always worked fine. Replaced motor and some bushings(?) at dealer. $300.

Damn, I have this problem as well, it can be very annoying [:(!]

I'll lubing the gears first to see if that makes any difference but I guess at the end of the day its time to spend yet more money on new motors

Not square

I had this problem with my window, driver side. I found all the problem was the window was not seated right in the door and not rising square, i reset the glass in the runner bar and been fine ever since
