Windshield Washer Reservoir

I was filling up the tank today and noticed that my filter screen in the tank had become dislodged and was floating around... does anyone know where it is actually supposed to sit? Is it at the bottom of the tank somewhere?

on top of the hole were you fill it up supposed to keep dirt from entering reservoir when you fill it up with fluid. mine fell off to i just removed it threw it away.

Thanks. I guess it's been down there for a while since I've never noticed it was gone. I'll see if I can grab it...at least it floats!

Funny... mine came off too. I really go through the wiper fluid (especially since the headlights get swept if they're on at the time). I reseated it and it's been fine ever since. I'm glad it was there too... I refilled the reservoir with an older bottle of washer fluid and I guess some settled at the bottom because the screen collected a bunch of small clumps of undissolved cleaner. Could have clogged my feeder hose I'll bet. I should have bought new fluid, but I had a jug of it left over from when I had my Passat.
