Is it just me, or do the rain sensing wipers have to be re-engaged everytime you re-start the car?

For example, say it's raining outside, so you move the wiper arm to the first position (in other words you engage the rain sensor), and everything works great.

Then you arrive at your destination, park and leave the car -- but also leave the rain sensor in the engaged position.

When you return to the car and begin driving (in the rain again) the wipers don't re-engage -- I have to move the wiper control off and on again to make them start wiping.

Is this by design, or am I doing something wrong?

Like the link to the other thread in bmwrocks post; yes you have to re-engage every time you start/re-start your car. Basically anytime the car is shut off the rain censor will have to be re-engaged....

Thanks guys -- the thread you referred me to cleared everything up. I guess I'm not the only one with that type of question. Thanks again.
