Have been riding on my Dunlop Winter Sports for almost a week now. I am actually looking forward to the predicted snow fall this weekend. Funny thing, it seems like the car is actually riding more comfortably with the dunlops then with the goodyear rs-a's. I haven't driven it really hard yet with the snows, but early indications are that the handling has not decreased. Road noise is also ok. Love these tires. Whats your experience?

I notice that the car is little bit smoother... it makes sense since my sports were bald and my Blizzaks have a 1 cm of rubber as a buffer to all those little holes on the road.

I L. Blizzaks. :)

Put on some Michelin Artic Alpins a month ago. Quiet, great ride, outstanding dry-pavement grip (break a little soon than the stock all-seasons, but not by much). And I never noticed that 'whine' that other Alpin owners complain about on wet pavement. Still waiting to really test the tires out in fresh snow, but I anticipate greatness.

Took the Blizzak WS-50's for a test drive around in the snow storm we got here last week.
I tested them after the roads were plowed, but were still snow covered. I was able to pull out from a stop on a steep hill with no problem. Stepped on the throttle a bit to see how it would accelerate. It fished a little and recovered quickly tho, handled turns nicely, while braking they gripped fine also.

Then we got a rain storm later on in the week and melted all the snow. My wife took the Bimmer to work in the rain and she said it hydro-planed like crazy. As compared to the stk Perelli all seasons that came with the car, which were great in the rain. When looking at the treads on the Blizzaks you can see why they are not made to handle the rain well. This is the only complaint I would have about the Blizzaks. Then again, they weren't designed to handle rain. I guess you can't have it all in one tire.

Just a warning to everyone to be extra careful when using these tires in the rain!!!!

Well, its official. The Dunlp Winter Sport 2 is a great tire. Have used it on wet, dry, and now snow. The ride is softer than my oem all seasons, the cornering is no different at least at moderate speed, and the wet traction is great. What a difference from last week when I was "skiing" and had to look for snow banks to drive into rather than risk sliding past stop signs into oncomming traffic. Hell, I love these tires so much I may keep them on all year![joke] [cheers] [driving2]

We finally had some snow! Took the car out to see how it will handle the snow, and how the new Alpins perform. I am VERY pleased with these tires. Grip was outstanding on the snow, and coupled with the DSC it was VERY difficult to throw the car into a skid. Technology never ceases to amaze me.

When I was buying winter tires I went back and forth between the Blizak's and the Dunlop Winter Sports, and finally settled on the Winter Sports. No regrets here. They grip dry pavement MUCH better than my oem "Summer" Dunlops, they have a bit more give so I think they corner better, there's absolutely no extra road noise, AND they work great in the snow. I'm with you donmbmw, I may leave them on all year long!

Dunlop Winter Sports here too; very happy with snow/ice performance. I'm not going to go so far to say that these 16" Dunlops handle better than my 17" Conti's or that they're quieter, but for a winter tire, I'm very satisfied.

Do that and you'll probably be replacing them every 12 months!
