My wipers need to be changed on my BMW....Do you advise I buy the wipers from the dealership?

I think they are pretty easy to change has anyone done it?
Just couple of hints as i do not currently have an owenr's manual and my hands are sometimes rough on these small plastic parts?

i m more used to drivetrain components.

[thumb] Very good question grasshopper, after my bimmer left the 50K/4 year service agreement I stopped using the stealerships. I replace my wipers with the PIAA Silicone blades I buy on-line from Bavarian Auto-Sport. You're correct in your assessment, they're really simple to replace yourself. I haven't a clue concerning what the stealership charges, I buy the Carbon Fiber set-up and pay approximately $20.00 USD for each full replacement blade. Just my two and a half cents worth. Happy Motoring...

The wipers are not covered by the 4 year warranty Stealership.....mine expires end of feb but after going there and looking at what they charge it is insane....

Worst case, the ones you buy in a store suck, and you're out
$10. Not much risk there.

I'd suggest going with a name brand, such as suggested above,
and you should be fine.

I went to the stealership yesterday to pick up the catalog i ordered.

I asked about the wipers they charged $29 a piece so around 60 for the pair what a ripp off.

Even worse i wanted to order a spare key. They would accept to do it without the title altough i bought the car 2 weeks ago so i had all the paper work and bill of sale but they did not accept...

Hmm with things like the key situation, I always try to reverse it, even though it may be an inconvenience at the time, it can also serve to help you at one time or another, don't ask me how lol. Like when you're at an airport and you have to wait for 45mins to make sure no one is wearing a bomb... okay, so a very different level, namely life and death, but still, it's for your own safety. I really don't even know what my point was anymore.

Oh yeah, wipers, how much would Bosch wipers cost in comparison?

I'm ok with that. Makes it harder for a thief to come in and buy a key for my car.

Had the wipers finally changed today but it was hard to find the right size for the BMW.
Pepboys tried the 20" and 24" both did not work too short too long...Advanced Auto Part got more creative and changed the filler of the wiper for $6....
10 times less than what I woud have paid at the dealership....but of course it was time consuming.
