wiring new cigarette lighter

Has anyone wired another cigarette lighter in a convenient yet out of the way spot so that I can plug in radar and phone recharger (w/o using the one in the dash).
Any tips would be appreciated.

Or there is actually an apdater that allows you to use the flash light charger in the glove box as another outlet. part number - 82 11 0 004 073 $8.25 US

I like it but, I'm trying to get away from the existing lighter so that there aren't cords all around the shifter.

This may be a stupid question, but if you use the flashlight socket as an extra 12VDC socket, does the glove box door have to stay open??

nope closes up perfect! I use it to power my Ipod. But I would like a way to keep my cell charged without keeping the ashtray open. Wounder if there is a way to install one in the rear ashtray??

Good question, MyHarley. I was going to ask the same thing. I'm looking to buy a 2004 330Cic (jet black) and want to sort out my iPod situation before actually buying the car. I currently use the iPod in my Passat and I just can't live without it. However, I've got wires all over the place, so the dash is a bit of a mess right now. The BMW interior is so clean... I'd hate to muck it up with wires. It'd be even worse if the glove box had to stay open. How weird would THAT be?

Anyone have an answer?

In my 04 Cic I use the flashlight adapter and the belkin car charger, which has a output on the end that goes into the cig adapter in the glove box, then I ran the cable to the box under the climate control. So I get direct Aux input and the Ipod charger in the car, I also can close the box to hide the ipod when not in car.

with all the wiring going on, I think I'll stick with the tres' pornographic adapter posted by code.......its actually crazy how many of those sockets us Americans can use........I already need sockets for my blanket, mini cooler, cell phone charger........no room for radar, ipod or any other gadget........

Can someone post a pic of the porno adapter in the lighter socket in the ashtray in their car? I want to see how massive it is.....because SIZE DOES MATTER.........
