My yellow oil light came on this morning after driving to work and turning off the car. I know this is the low oil warning that comes to warn you to add oil. It comes on for a brief time after turning off the vehicle. It is the precursor to the red oil light.

Funny thing is, I have been checking my oil on a regular basis and the last time I checked was probably 2 weeks ago and the oil level was good.

The car has 6800 miles and everything seems OK.

WTF is going on? Is this normal? Doesn't seem right to me.

Also what weight oil is in it from the factory so I can fill it. I have some 5w30 Mobil 1 in the garage.

I hate this.......

According to the manual this may happen during the break in period but you are way past that. If your engine is burning up oil prematurely it may be a sign. Be safe, it's under warranty, get it checked out. Also, check page 126 in your manual for additional info.
It also states that if you get this yellow indicator will driving, your oil level is now at the bare minimum required for safe driving. 5W-30 from the factory.

BTW what are you CEO of? Get me a job so that I can move to Florida[rofl] . I'm a IT Project Manager/ Programmer/System Analyst.

Could be a faulty sensor? Not sure...I've only seen mine immediatly after changing my oil...then it goes away. Hmmm...
You know I haven't even checked my oil yet. I am going to go out and do that in a few minutes.....I am wishing it is a faulty sensor.....

OK, first things first.

I just checked the oil and......it is at the same level (full) it has been at since day 1.....right at the upper limit of the dipstick range limits. Whew. So.....aNoodle may be right on target.....faulty sensor?

If it persists I will have them check it out at the dealer.

Now about the Orlando thing, if you guys are serious you can IM me your email addresses and I can give you some details about my company, or I will give you mine and you can send me resumes and we can take it from there.

Hey bmwrocks...Orlando is on the top of my list but I have only spent a few weeks there and most of the time at the Marriott World resort area east/south east of the Disney World area.

I cant leave until the business here sells and I finalize an adoption but I would be interested in knowing a little more about things in the area as I get closer and more certain about timing.

Ummmmm.....my business is in the field of engineering.......what is a Big Four CPA as opposed to just a CPA?

OK everyone who wants to move to FL, as Nike coined, Just Do It!!!

There are gobs of jobs for qualified people down here.....you just have to want to make the move.....

I did it 20 years ago when I was single and free, so it was easy......I could never pick up and move now, too rooted in.

That is what I am thinking-just do it!

I have done this a few times in the past and it can be fun. Just pick up and go.[:D]

I would love to hit a good time April-May or Sep.-Dec. and play for a month or two. [driving]

My kids (twins) will be 2 this year so it is a good time to look for a good place to live as it will not be a good thing to do when they hit school age.

My dad's a CPA. Never worked for any of the what are now big four accounting firms: Deloite Touche, etc. People who work for one of the big companies generally have more prestige than lowly non-big firm accountants like my dad. Even though my dad makes about 5 times what they do. [:)]

True...a friend of mine works in his own small firm and makes a bunch of $$$$, several times what a senior tax person makes in a big firm.
