The salesman here at work are ribbing another about the color of white for a car. They feel white is girlish. We are in Arizona and very hot 100-115. He's trying to keep it cool. What are your thoughts on White? Thanks for the opinions in advance.

International has white tops on there school buses in hot climate states - what’s in a color (except like a hot pink) at least he won't burn is butt of in a black car - I would at least go with titanium or gray.

What do salesmen know? Buy a color based on what you like, not what they or others think.
Exactly, are they trying to talk you out of it because they don't have one in stock?

Yea, I like silver but I don't want to look like the next door neighbor, or the guy down the street. I wish dealership would give you a deal regardless of what color. It's all black or silver in AZ.

imo, Black & Red are the prettiest colors.

I went Silver/Grey cause I know how well it weathers and looks far better in a rainy climate (Oregon [:(] ), so I really took my 3rd choice, but its nice leaving the nice/clean confines of my garage and backing into a downpour knowing I have an easy color to maintain.

Soon we will have maintenance free paint finishes and at that point I switch back to Black !

I think white looks awesome on a BMW 3 series or maybe even a Z4...as long as it does not have beige interior. I think beige and white looks like an old girlie colour,... and white can be too much on a 5 or 7 series....looks like a big white whale and so does not help the whacked body design of the new 5 & 7...I have seen a few X5s in white....not too shabby.

Bottom line is get what you like. Hey, you might think white and beige is the only combo...just goes to prove that we all like different colours, and different colours on cars and people make this frickin' planet all the better!!!!

My cousin just got a white 325i with black interior, and it looks sweet....but, uh-oh my cousin's name is Natalie!!!!! [fake]

My family prefers white cars because they're cooler than any other color. A salesman a long time ago showed us. There was a row of the exact same car in different colors and he had us put our hands on the paint of each one. Only the white car didn't burn us.

There's no more girly color now in the OEM colors. Pink and possibly purple would be girly colors, but those aren't typically offered stock. Even purple is arguably a neutral color now. For example, a Mora M3 with Kiwi interior is pretty hot IMO.

Check out this site for some color samples:

Just the opposite. Just picked up my white 325I and still looks good after one week of solid rain. It hides the dirt a lot better than my old Black Audi.

Girly - no way but girls love to look at it - Who's the smart one now

Heard somebody saying that white automobile has higher accident rate that any other colors. Is it true or just an urban myth?

I would never get white because it must be waxed monthly IMHO.
Versus a black car which must be waxed daily to keep it looking good.

And no, white cars don't get into accidents more. That's just an urban legend.

I've had black as well as the old cinnabar red. Water spots and/or dust were always a problem. This time I went with silver grey. Looks good and is much much easier to maintain.

I remember reading somewhere (could have even been here) that white is the most forgiving color as blemishes and the less-than-perfect wax job are seldom noticeable.

I have a white Expedition and the Imola red BMW. The white can go 2-3 weeks and still look good where the red usually only makes it a few days and shows a lot more dirt and imperfections.

White....girlish? I don't see it.
