First and foremost - newbie, but have found this board to be very educational and helpful.

Background:
Recently ordered a K&N Air Filter (#33-2231).
The instructions that came w/the filter indicated a gasket needs to be applied under the side of the airlid box (instruction #7, fig #4). However, no gasket was included in the Air Filter box -only filter.

I emailed K&N. Their initial response indicated that they would send me a gasket.
Follow-up email advised that they over-looked the model# information and upon further review - "Your filter does not need a gasket. That must be old paper work in that box. You are fine using the filter the way it is."

Question:
For those that may have installed a K&N Air Filter in their E46 - (1) Did anybody experience same and, more importantly, (2) Did you install a gasket w/filter (especially if purchased recently).

Thanks in advance.

PS. ZHP is unbelievably awesome!

hey welcome to the boards man . I installed one in my 325 Ci and yes i had the gasket and I put it in . If I remember right, the gasket goes into the cover of the airbox. congrats on the zhp.

1. Leave it alone man! you got an awesome ride already , stop tweeking it. 2. Check your local parts store and open the box to see if there's a gasket. If there is , purchase it and use the other K&N as aback up when you clean the other one . Because
it takes awhile to dry when you clean it and may leave you withouy a ride ..[:(]
