Need a little help!!!

A few questions with tire pressure. I got the Goodyear F1 DS-G3 tires installed. The independent tire guy recommended 40 PSI in all four tires even though the inside of the door frame on the ZHP says 34 in the front and 38 in the rear.

Grated the tires haven't broken in, but it seems that I went from an understeering car to one where it seems to oversteer! Does this make sense? Should I go with a lower front tire pressure to decrease the feeling of oversteer?

Is there a recommendation that there be less tire pressure in the front versus the back and what is the reason for it?

Thanks in advance!

I just would have thought to stick with what the manufacturer says. When it's colder weather, I've also heard that you can put another 2psi in there. And the different pressures from front to rear should just be because the tires themselves are different sizes. The back ones on mine for eg. are 245/40 ZR17 and the fronts are 225/45 ZR17 if I remember correctly and so I put 34 front and 38 rear.

Yeah it seems to make more sense to run 35-36 in the front and 38 in the back. My old tires ont eh front wore out on the sides first, but my rears wore in the center more. Seems that if I raise the pressure in the rears, more wear will occur in the center.

Does anybody recommend monitoring their tire wear with a tread guage?

[thumb] JUst wondering when was the last time you had a four wheel alignment for your bimer. I always get an alignment whenever I replace all four tires at once or I'm changing out my wheels. Just my two and a half cents worth. Happy Motoring...
