I just got a 2004 330i ZHP Performance Package, and it came with Bridgestone RE040 tires. Other cars on the lot had Michelin Pilot Sports though. Did I get screwed? Also, what are people's opinions on the RE040s? Thanks.

That’s interesting, I thought most came with Pilot Sport. I guess the rating would be the most important factor. I don’t think I would have accepted Bridgestone but I guess it depends on the rating. I am sure what you have are appropriate though.

i have the RE40s.. but i want the pilots. from what i read, pilots are better tires.

BMW has number of tires that are qualified for a given car, and depending on the supply at the time of production, they'll slap on whatever OEM tires. since ultra perfs have horrible tread life, i guess i'll be getting the pilots, or even teh goodyears next time around..

Goodyears? My experience with all goodyears is that they're crap. Like I always say, anything that's good enough for NASCAR isn't nearly good enough for me.
I got the Goodyear RS-A's they're made in Germany and so far they seem fine. It's been a few weeks and they only chirp on a sudden sharp turn or if I semi-hard accelerate from stop into a turn. When you say they're all crap, how did you arrive at that conclusion?

I just got Continentals with my BMW chrome wheels. Can't tell the difference from my Michelin's. I feel that only people in Germany on the autobond or road racers will really ever notice a true difference.
