I have a 1999 328i (E46) and the check engine light came on last week and now its missing all cylinder. At first it called for the pre cat oxy sensor 1-3 and pre cat oxy sensor 4-6. So I went ahead and changed the 2 oxygen sensors before the cat. Well unfortunately it didn't fix the problem. now i still get the same code and also misfire on all six cylinders. The car has a little over 110K miles so it needed new o2 sensors but now where do I go from here. Any suggestions????? Thanks in advance...

Sounds like it could be coil(s) issues. This is a known problem for the E46's especially the early models.....

Misfiring

Hi there,

As M Speed said, there were coil issues with the early E46's.
If your coils are Bremi's then you should replace them with Bosch coils.

This may sound silly, but when you replaced the O2 sensors, did you do them one at a time, or both at the same time? (reason being that if you mixed up the two connectors [which are identical] you'd definitely be having misfire issues).

I'd also recommend that you replace the plugs and the fuel filter, if they're not already done.

Anyway, just my 2 cents
Good luck,
Tiger
