Missing something?

Take a look at the attached image. Can anyone tell me what should be in that large empty spot? Looks like there are mounts there for something to be there.

This is where the battery was originally designed to go. BMW moved it to the rear for weight distribution, and never redisigned or reused the space.

In early E46's that's were the ABS pump lived.

Open the trunk, it's on the right hand side, under the plastic panel. If you don't have an owners manual, you can download one for free by registering in the Owners Circle area of the BMW website.
