Can you all list the cars you have raced that you have beaten on the streets?
I want a general idea of what cars I can beat and what cars I should just let alone.
With my '04 330ci auto, i have so far beaten:

* '87 honda civic (4-door)
* '81 oldsmobile station wagon
* a school bus
* '98 honda odyssey
* garbage truck
* '82 pinto
* '03 porsche 911 turbo (1st 3ft)

...all with the a/c on baby!!!

yes, the list is a joke. but the question was serious.
just how badly will a g35 kill me? could i even hang
close to a mustang v8? (in corners i think i can, for a
mustang.) has anyone raced a 04 tl yet? how about
the '04 honda accord v6 coupe? i don't mind losing,
i just don't want to get embarrassed.
ok i lied, i do mind losing. basically i just want to know
that if i do lose, i'm SUPPOSE to lose. thanks.

oh yeah..and the new maximas, and z350...
i COULD just read the car magazines..but..
i feel it's more accurate coming from actual
experience of regular drivers.

The new Maxima, the 350Z, Mustang V8, and the G35 Coupe and Sedan will all be able to take you. But I think you should definitely give it a go if any one of them challenges you, because if you are a better driver, you should be able to win the race. [:)]

damn..that sucks.
there should be a law:
a car cannot be faster
than a car that costs more.
[fake]

oh well, at least
the 330 looks classier!!

Maxima is a 2001 model (not the new shaped ones)
Yes 330ci twice. I said it before and i'll say it again.. the 330i is faster than the ci.. and i proved that twice..

My car is not manual and it is stock but a supercharger is on the way :)

Jeep Cherokee - Guy must have been dreaming, but he challenged me on a twisty road no less
G35 sedan - was close untill came up on some curves - then he backed off.
Mercedes c320 - Not exactly a race, more like playing tag on the highway. very competitive till he decided to test the governor and I just waved as he headed for 100+

You should leave all of those cars alone and head to your local road course or autocross.

You will get spanked by folks in cars with 100 less horsepower than your 330ci.

Over time you will learn how to drive your 330ci and not to care about the guy next to you at the stoplight. You will realize that the little encounters people like to fantasize about as races are little more than displays of ego and offer a very poor return in terms of risk versus reward.

Sure, I dump the clutch and have known to play with a worthy car now and again, but I don't go around posting kill stories on bulletin boards because I know how irrelevant this endless debate is and once you really learn how to drive that 330ci you will too.

I am still learning myself, indeed I hope to never stop learning IMHO, there is nothing to be learned from racing grocery getters on city streets.

As for the rest of it, the car magazines are your best source of information. On the street, driver intention and driver skill are too great a variable. Half of the time the person you think you are racing has no idea or no interest in racing you.

I'd rather be [driving]

that's not true b/c he has an auto and u can't really "race" that car. there's no good way to get off the line quickly and btw, never race with your a/c on if you're serious.

Here's mine, I haven't been driving that long so it isn't that great:

- Mazda Protege (the guy had about 4 people in the car and was obviously trying to piss me off)
- 1980's Toyota pickup truck [hihi]
- Porsche Boxter (not an S)
- Mustang GT (once again, power means nothing when it comes to BMW)
- 1995 Honda Prelude (this was my friend's car, for some reason he had been insisting he could "crush" me for about 1 month, then I made him look like an ass in front of his girlfriend[:D])
- 1999 V6 Honda Accord (some Hindu lady was driving this with her friends. For some reason she challenged ME to the race, out of my entire list she put up the toughest fight, kind of pathetic)

this is truly sad. i paid 40+k$$ for a car that can't beat most of the cars out there..
i still love the way it handles but..damn. oh well at least it still looks good, heh heh.
i guess if i wanted to race i shoulda have gotten the m3. [B)]

so if someone wants to race me, i'll look over and snicker and pretend i'm not racing
cuz he/she's no match for me hahaha [hihi]

and no, i'm not someone who races all the time, i just like to floor it once in awhile
to see how it performs. i'm a fool for acceleration.

You can launch your car with an auto by doing that "brake-torque" thing, but yeah, that's pretty much the only advantage one has with an auto.
In any case, I will never take my own car to the track. That is the perfect place to just push your car real hard and I would just get stupid and have no fear, and I would end up wiping out or hitting other cars on the track. I'll keep my spirited driving on the streets.

Have faith in your BMW, I know for a fact that you can rape most cars out there. If I were you though I would've gotten the MT, I can't stand automatics.

Agree 100%.............my car looks its best when someone is passing and admiring........than passing and laughing.......[burnout] [burnout]
