I can provide MHO... for what it's worth. I just sold my 02 330i and have had my 03 330i PP for about 2 months. The revised gearing in the PP make a pretty big differance in acceleration. I would say the car is easily the .5 second faster (5.9 vs 6.4) in 0-60 times tha BMW advertises. I also believe that the new cams do make a small differance in the top end acceleration. The motor doesn't seem to run out of steam as soon. Just my .02cents!

Might be wheels

It might be the wheels causing the discrepancy...bigger wheels, despite weight differences, equals more friction, and more imortantly, more resistance for the axles and motor to turn. There was a good article about a 600hp vette that had a driver that couldn't figure out where all the power was going...he dyno'd it and figured out that it was hiss massive wheels draining ponies. Just a thought - I'm not certain in this case at all.

i actually read the article about a week ago, and they did mention that the fastest 330i was faster than the 330i pp.

i coudl say two things about it, the matter of the fastest 330i having an over speced engine vs the 330i pp w/ an under perf engine. shown by how motortrend couldn't even reproduce 5.9 bmw advertised.. 6.2 was it?? where as another mag, can't remember if edmunds, or caranddriver, got a 5.6 0-60 time.. so who knows... [:(]
