"The Euro. look"

[wave]

I hear ya, uber...

I have the amber lights on my '04 'ZHP', but it's the 4-door 330i.

When I end this work assignment and get home (around April) I'm going to change to the clear lenses ~ front, rear & side.

My best bet is to purchase them through the Bavarian Auto website. I have their catalog
at home...

Refering to your reply/quote... If BMW (direct) doesn't know what they are going to do, than how can you expect the [dealers] to know what's going on [?|] .

"Hang in there, uber... if that's the only problem you encounter along the road to an '04
'ZHP' ~ than the whole order/delivery process will be a breeze for you."

OK so I decided to stop by the dealer today and see how things were going, as I had no call from him all week...

good news: A fax had come through yesterday with my order number. I don't know what it means really but it's the most concrete and meaningful sign that this is really happening, so I'll take it!!

Bad news: so I learn that the great lease deal that the dealer was talking about (money factor of .001) is only available on sedans. Coupe rates are 0.0023. But I'm still not sure about lease vs. purchase...anyway, I have another month.

The mixed news: My personal frustration with the lights issue- seems like it's gonna be OK... A little flyer at the dealer with press photos of the coupe and convertible, show the car with the clear lenses front and clear LEDs rear that I'd been hoping for. So let's hope the LA autoshow cars were wrong and the press photos are accurate.

If that is the case, what a dumba$$ the BMW customer service rep was!! My advice? Don't open your mouth if you are not 100% sure of the information you are giving...

So the dealer ran some numbers for me on the lease just for my information. With 2000 out of pocket (that covers 2 advance payments- a 'rule' on ED leases), and a horrendous $725 Bank Fee (what the?), my payments would be $524+tax for 36 months. Now that is with 10K miles, Obviously, add a few more $$ for more miles/yr...

What to do?

uber... have you checked out edmunds.com ?

If you haven't, you can get into the Town Hall 'lease discussion' site.

You can ask the moderator (aka 'Car_Man') a specific BMW FS lease question to which he'll reply in approx. 24 hours.

He will give you the Money Factor, Residual, down payment and will tell you what the
$725 "Bank Fee" is, if it's even legitimate. This All comes directly from BMW Financial
Services (FS).

If you need any more info., feel free to ask or E-mail me (see profile.)

just a quickie update today--

BMW FS dropped the money factor on leases for 3-series coupes (previously the deal was only on sedans)... It's not much but enough to get a 12000 mile/yr lease for the price of 10K.

still not sure about lease vs buy... maybe the topic of a new thread!

"lease vs purchase"

[wave] uber,

What I found attractive about a lease was, putting 'less' down, getting 'more'

car and still being able to purchase the vehicle at lease end and not worrying [?|]

if I went over the scheduled milage...

best of both worlds

Exactly Paddy-
the residual is around $26 and change- I've seen 3 year old 330Cis for sale around 30, so if it is beneficial at the time, I can always sell the car, make the lease payoff and pocket a few grand to boot!!!

Yea, you know the drill...
You'll L-O-V-E the 'ZHP' package. Even though I'm in Vegas, with the 'hot' summers, I don't think the black interior will be a factor. I have a great tint on the windows and I'll pick-up a
curtain for the windshield when I'm parked out side.
Check out the 'cube trim' that comes w/the Alcantara interior. I have the 'Silver Cube', which
I think is more attractive because it breaks up everything else in the interior, which is black. I think the silver draws your attention to the dash area, the central focus of the interior. The only other 'cube' choice is black.
The 'ZHP' seats are awsome and the car is so well balanced that you can't help [but] accelerate into the corners... Like they say, "Drive it like it's stolen." After you break it in,
of course.
I was home on vacation (during X-Mass) for 10 days and put approx. 300 miles on my car but I'll be home for good in April at the END of this work assignment. Then I'll be able
to, "Kick [shake] and take names [driving2] ."

Well Well Well- long time no action!!

That is until today- I was told to come in and pay up!!

I am now exactly 4 weeks from picking up my car in Munich. I am making payments tomorrow!

I have a VIN, Order Tracking shows "awaiting transportation to the delivery center" and I am all set to go!

Think in German...

Ja! Und now all I need is a Nav DVD. Navigation Technologies makes them- they want $165 plus tax and shipping... I wonder if I can do better...

PS it's an urban myth that the Euro Delivery Center will 'lend' you one... those days are probably long gone!!

Day 60 ~ish

Hello again! It is almost 2 months to the day since I placed my order. Now the excitement is at MAX- I am flying to England on Thursday and then to Munich the following Friday to pick up my car...

I received a package from BMW with a few maps and instructions on how to get to the delivery center from the airport using the underground train (the cab ride is $45!). I also got a pen with "European Delivery" written on the side. It also has a blue LED that you can click on and use to write in the dark with (I'm a sucker for free stuff!!)...

Anyway, 2 months of anticipation is coming to an end and I can't wait. Is there anyone else out there picking up on Apr 2? I figure it's a long shot but you never know!!

The sad thing is that the factory tours are not running from the 2nd - 23rd of April. I'm missing it by a DAY!! [:(]

I found a European Navigation DVD on ebay.co.uk for around $50 with shipping. Considering a new one from Navteq is $160 plus tax, I think I got a good deal. Now if only the German dude I bought it from would send me an email to confirm the sale... I've paid with PayPal but he hasn't responded and he hasn't picked up funds either. That's kind of frustrating...

Well, that's all for now, maybe I'll write a few more words before I leave or once I'm back at my Parents' place in England with the car...

I want to do salzburg, innsbruck and through northern switzerland to basel...not sure after that but ive got to get to london...
If you get to Innsbruck and want a good local place to eat and drink, check out Theresien Brauerei. The food and beer is great, it is mostly local people, not a tourist trap, very casual, fun and friendly, some cigarette smoke though. Most of the waitstaff speak english. It's on the main drag in downtown Innsbruck. Go through the Arch towards the mountain, it's maybe 100 yds. on the right. Have fun!
