Is there anyone here who has a 330i with the Performance Package or anyone who has seen one on the streets? They seem kinda rare. Any info on production #s would be nice.

The 330i Performance Package

I picked up a 330i with the Performance Package 2 in late May. They are rare, infact on the westside of LA I have only seen 2 others since I bought mine. It's an amazing auto! Fast and Tight, very tight and a real head turner. I love that they blacked out the headliner inside, like the M3. It screams on down the highway!

I ordered mine in late April and got it in June. Only saw one other one on the road and it was a buddy's car. He got his in April. My dealer told me, mine was the 7th one they sold.

My brother bought the first in the area and he has only seen one other. I'm curious if the production is limited or just few in demand.

This Sept CD mag put it at o-60 in 5.6 and 14.3 thru the 1/4 at 97 mph. Those are huge numbers over the 330i w/the sport package.

Reprogramming the Computer

Does anyone know if there will be an aftermarket computer tuner for the 330i Performance Package to boost HP and Torque?

yup! rare indeed. I ordered my in may and it arrived in june.
Love it.

I talked to some "high ups" at BMW in So. Cal. and they said there would only be about 5000 of the pp built for the entire U.S.

Food for thought.

What dealership in SoCal and what city are you located. Just curious because my brother saw a PP that color and that is the only other one seen around the SD area

Hi,

I just ordered my 2004 Mystic Blue 330i Performance yesterday for a late October arrival. VERY excited. Here in the Phoenix, AZ area we only have two BMW dealerships and I'm rather partial to my sales guy at the one. I did shop the other to see if there was any negotiating price and discovered that they actually didn't have any allocated for several months. So it is hard to come by indeed.

They're only allocating a handful each month to specific dealerships in popular markets apparantly. I should have my production number in September and will track it online.

It is an incredible car - LOVE the sound of that engine when it takes off. Careful though - when I test drove it, it smoothly took me over 100 mph and I didn't even realize it until the poor sales guy asked if I was fond of my driver's license...

Can't wait to take it to PIR in November...

F*ck your sales guy. When he said that, you should have taken it to 155. I have seen the 330i Performance Package on the road only once and I am always looking carefully for them.

Speed comes quickly in the PP. I drove it down the on-ramp and then realized I was over 80.

Smooth, quick, sounds great, looks better and this will be a car all 330i wish they were.

Well worth the 4K.

upcoming

I ordered an Imola Red one back in May. As most folks who have read previous posts of mine, my car was supposed to come in July. However, it keeps getting pushed back further and further. I have been checking the status and it says it's been built but it is still awaiting transport.

I spoke with my sales guy and he said cuz of the strike everything has been pushed back dramatically.

I didn't realize that they are rare. I've only seen one in my area. Jet black 330i pp. Very sweet.

They didn't seem rare at first because you saw one or two on a lot but then everyone realized how damn cool this car is.

My brother who has the PP has even been contacted about having his in a Mag. From what I hear, BMW only has one PP test mule for the press.

Should be a fun test. They are bringing a 98M3 and a new 500hp supercharger asphalt eater M3. Yehaa!

Which Dealership did you deal with? The one on Scottsdale Road bought out Inskip here in RI & I plan to purchase my M3 Cab. through my sales guy here in RI & either pick it up here or have it in Scottsdale when I move in a couple months. If that is the same dealership you used...how is their service, etc.?

Yup, BMW North Scottsdale. I'll only buy from there - but I go to chapman on McDowell for service. My sales guy at North Scottsdale is Ali Basakinci (if you need a contact) - it's the second BMW I've bought from him and he is extremely knowledgeable (I keep testing him and he keeps teaching me !

Two reasons I don't go there for service:

I live about 35 minutes away from there and only 20 minutes from the other.

The two times I tried to go there after I bought my first BMW I had tremendous waits and yes, I hold grudges.

Good luck with your move - if you need any more information about the dealership or the area in general, you can contact me offline at onlyroundel@yahoo.com.

530i vs. 330i PP

I've got a 530i and I'm thinking of going with the 330i PP. Will I notice a huge difference. I wish I could drive a PP, they are nowhere to be found. How about compared to an M3?

It is easy to say that if you don't need the extra space that the 5 offers, the PP is your best bet. It will run circles around the 530.

The reason they offered the PP is because they did not build a 4door M3. It can't approach the power or agility of the M3 but it is also for superior than any other non-M BMW.

and about 8k less.

Why I got the 330i PP

I wanted an M3 badly. It's an amazing car... My pal has the M3. My other friend had a 330ci. I was loaned the 330 (sport package) for a long weekend and had a blast driving it. Then my friend with the M3 offered to let me drive it for a day. After driving both around the city of LA, I realized the M3 was just too much car and too stiff for everyday driving in LA... so i stumbled into my dealer...to get a 330i... and was shocked and suprised to find the 330i PP. It looked like an M series, and drove like a rocket... and had the 4 doors I really need for my coming son... I bought one within the week. I spoke to my dealer today... and he said they are rare, and selling for 3k plus over sticker now. [thumb] I really can't say enough about the car... except to say I love it.[driving]
