Hmm, ok, guess that means I won't be taking the BMW for my trip up to NorCal. It'd prolly be best if I posted a picture so you guys can see for yourself. If I take a picture, can someone host it? Or maybe resize it so I can just upload it onto here?
ouch man. THats a deep scratch. The tire doesnt look too bad though. If the rim isnt bent I dont see anything to worry about for your trip to norcal. Only thing is putting mileage on the car. I live in cypress but go to school in berkeley. GOing up and down just once is like 800 miles. Sucks.
ouch that scratch really sucks....i can't tell from pic how deep the flap is and if the supporting metal and steel in the sidewalls is already hurt. that is what counts. when you flap it open, do you see metal at the bottom of the cut? not that that would mean the tire is okay, but it is an indication.
Ok, I thought I was the only one who did this! I did mine 6 weeks after I got my car. I had no clue it could be repaired. Anyone know any place in the Metro DC area?
Thanks for the pics Tom. I put my finger in there to give you guys an idea of how big that flap is. It's really tiny (I have skinny fingers and yeah, I need to cut my nails). I see nothing but rubber underneath. It looks pretty much like those little strips of rubber that stick out of a brand new bicycle tire. In the pictures, you can see where they belted the rubber together on that little band. The strip that came off is only about as thick as the excess rubber. That's why I wasn't too concerned. The rim scratch is pretty deep. You can see a chunk of the metal pushed up. That's what worries me.
That's nothing. I got scratches all around the rims, most on rear left. I'll just replace that wheel with the full size spare under your trunk, save the repair$$$
