Heh, I've known one all my life, my dad.
Hahaha! Kind of ironic because my dad hates BMW's now, but he used to have the biggest hard-on for BMW. He used to have a BMW 2002, an E30 3-series, and a 635 turbocharged (he put air intake, aftermarket wheels, exhaust, etc. on it too!).
I think there are BMW haters exist because BMW is just constantly on top in the handling department, their engines are great, and the driving experience is great, and after SO MANY YEARS you would think that at least ONE company would really try to finally beat BMW, but nobody ever does....

Well, if you look at some cars from different companies, they might beat one particular BMW but like you said not ONE company ever did. I don't know why my dad hates BMWs but sometimes it just goes over the top with his remarks. When my fan clutch went, we thought it was the pump and he started saying something like, my toyota didn't overheat, the pump didn't break and all that (1997 with a few thousand more on the clock), my come back to that was as follows: "Of course it didn't break, you had it replaced for over 500 bucks." Even after that he would say things like it is hard to perform service on BMWs. Go figure, I am sold on them, don't really care what he thinks.

A true enthusiast will appreciate a fine automobile on it's own virtues, of course you aren't talking about them you are talking about morons. Moron's are best left smirked at you both know who is on top.

To the gent above....how are you acting any different than what you are commenting about? (This from a HONDA S2k driver who enjoys passing off goons referring to my "puny" 4-cyl. car ;) )

Same here. My Dad gave me an unbelievable amount of grief when I bought my car. However, after he drove it, he really liked it. So I'd have to say let the BMW hater drive the car. Experience gives what words could never describe.

B/c I don't automatically dismiss a car just because it's not a BMW. It actually has to have crappy features. Like ricers are stupid, but a Civic is not as an economy car(I used to own one, still proud of that car). S2K can kick my car's ass. Might have considered it if I didn't only have one car and needed the space and wanted to try torque. Had a hell of a time deciding btw my car and the G35 coupe. But I will bash the Mercedes E320. Not cuz it's a Mercedes and BMW's competitors, but b/c it has no driving feel, interior materials don't feel as nice as older Mercedes, and the brakes literally have a mind of their own (and yes, it's sitting in the garage so I have actually driven in it many times).

Nobody ever said the S2000 was a rice burner. There is a huge difference between a Civic with a fartcan exhaust and cardboard-constructed air intake and a S2000. The S2000 is an amazing car, I really love it. The S2K is like a demonstration of what Honda is capable of if they weren't such practicality whores when it comes to their cars.

My dad drove my car a couple of times, still hates it. He dislikes the way it doesn't have such a smooth ride when your hitting bumps. (well DUH, not only was it build more for the twisties but it has the sport package). I don't know, he is just much more of a prius person. I don't think anything of it, I don't argue with him at all, and even when something happends where my car turns out to be better than his I start saying that its because of some other consequences. Let him think what he wants to. Don't argue with a fool, you will never change his/hers opinion.
