Nobody ever said the S2000 was a rice burner. There is a huge difference between a Civic with a fartcan exhaust and cardboard-constructed air intake and a S2000. The S2000 is an amazing car, I really love it. The S2K is like a demonstration of what Honda is capable of if they weren't such practicality whores when it comes to their cars.
You guys are taking his post all wrong. I believe he was talking about is the post from pacismakaveli, where he stated:

I just get pissed and start swearing and laughing at their ricers....can someone list the FACTS that prove bmw as the ultimate driving machine!!!
I believe he was just trying to say don't stoop to their level and let it bother you. I don't think he took the post as a slam on the S2000. Seems he knows where that car stands in the mix of it all.

I could be wrong, but this is what I perceived….

The manual transmission on the S2000 is the best I've ever driven regardless of price. Two problems with the S2000: 1. you have to get the RPMs past 6K before you can feel its power, and 2. it brakes loose with little advance warning, so you have to be alert. Other than that, the S2000 is without question the best sports car value in the world.

Precisely, I have been lurking on this board for a while soaking up knowlege. The BMW has one of the most amazing balances in handling compromise of any car produced on this planet (mine included). I talked my sister into a sedan last year and she absolutely loves it and we are in the process of selling my wife's 4-runner to buy her a 330Ci with the sports package.

Every car has merits and faults, that makes for good debate, there are areas that a Bimmer has it all over my car, and vice versa. Would I like to be in the driver's seat (daily) of any other car, hell no. But I will be quite happy to have a fine piece of German engineering sitting next to my fine Rice Burner in the garage for occasional playing ;).

argue all the performance and the cutting edge tech that the car has, and the fact that it is the #1 selling luxury car brand in the US...i can change BMW haters to BMW lovers [:D]
Thats the way I do it, when I hear that some other car is better than a BMW, I take them to the BMW dealership on 57th, funny how quickly people change their minds. [rofl]

well i wont hate BMWs performance wise, cuz they simply kiss ass. But the look of the new ones coming out is bound to split enthusiasts in half. Man if they change the look of the current M3 im gonna pretty pissed cuz ive seen the E90 and i think Chris Bangle needs to be fired.

My dad drove my car a couple of times, still hates it. He dislikes the way it doesn't have such a smooth ride when your hitting bumps. (well DUH, not only was it build more for the twisties but it has the sport package). I don't know, he is just much more of a prius person. I don't think anything of it, I don't argue with him at all, and even when something happends where my car turns out to be better than his I start saying that its because of some other consequences. Let him think what he wants to. Don't argue with a fool, you will never change his/hers opinion.

My Dad drives a Camry, and my car rides Much smoother than his. Never ridden a Prius, in all honesty, I wouldn't want to. When ever I begin to argue with my dad, he makes one of two comments that I think are applicable here:

1) Never argue with an idiot, for they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

2)Never argue with a fool, someone watching may not be able to tell the difference.

It's fun to argue about cars though, cause it's such a personal preference that everyone gets heated really quickly. lol.

Hehe, my dad drives an avalon so its pretty damn close. To tell you the truth, after I went upstate with him for a weekend (work and such) in his car, boy was I enjoying mine on monday and I wasn't even driving his. I don't know why but everything felt different EVEN with me being in the back, it does ride kind of smooth, even though its harsh, the end of suspension travel for that bump is smooth, something tells me his shocks might be going.

Might be the shocks. G/f's brother has an Avalon. As the head mechanic of a Toyota dealership, his car is always in tip top condition. He got a crack in his windshield one time and instead of fixing it, he replaced it "under warranty." Same thing when he got this tiny scratch in his bumper. Anyways, that car has an amazingly smooth ride if the shocks are in decent condition. It's hell of a lot smoother than my car. It's smoother than the two camry's they have in their family too.

Yeah, I think it is the shocks, it feels as if nothing is holding the wheels in place. They go up and down very fast. I am sure his front right bushing is going, its been a while since you can hear something ratteling everytime the right front tire hits a hole and it feels like it is coming from the top of the shock tower. It started with the car being cold and then would go away as it warms up, now it is always there.

1.) Engine is similar in design to a motorcycle engine, which is why it lacks low-end power and torque in general. This is not a bad thing, but for regular driving around it could use more low-end power since you're not always screaming around at 6K+ rpm's (the new S2000 with the 2.2 liter engine is supposed to address this issue).

2.) Chalk that up to the lack of body roll, my G35C is the same way. My car experiences very little body roll and both cars will break loose before you can tell you are approaching the car's "limit". The key is to push it gently and feel the car out before you do some serious driving.
