If it came down to which car would be more pleasureable to own, it would be the M3. Atleast to younger people it would be...nobody really wants to go around saying "yea i drive a cadilac with a corvette engine..."

If you're going to spend that much, then why wouldnt you buy a corvette, new GTO, or something like that?? They all cost pretty much the same (the gto is even cheaper.)

Unelss you get to drive an american car you wont understand, but something like a BMW just feels more SOLID than ANY american car, even the corvette's interior seems kind of shoddy (in my opinion anyways). I know all companies have their flaws but BMW's just feel OVERALL more solid. A lot of cars feel more solid than american cars, higher end toyotas, lexus, acura, etc. all look and feel more solid.

Intelligent conversation makes for an interesting board. That's why I enjoy this board so much.

All points taken but I have to say that BMW and Audi and Mercedes are not the only cars that can compete on a equal plain.

For years BMW and Mercedes set the benchmark for automotive excellence. And way before that, Cadillac did. What I'm trying to say is that as technology and market changes so will the superior manufacturers.

BMW has been riding on top for several years, (Current 5, 3, and all Ms) These cars will forever be mentioned as the cars that pushed (forced) other manufacturers to stop producing sub-par vehicles.

Now everything has come full circle and BMW and other prominent manufacturers will need to work even harder now to maintain the automotive glory they so well deserved.

It will no longer be easy for BMW to hold off GM, Honda, and even DC and Ford.

Good Luck to them all. It just makes it all that much more fun for us.

Let me state for the record that I am a huge BMW fan. I like the Caddy and Automobile Mag has this to say about it:

"The CTS V is a better drivers car than Jaguar S-type R, the Audi RS6 or the Mercedes Benz E55 AMG. It isn't ultimately involving as BMW's M3 or M5, but it is easier to live with and has stellar staight-line performance and handling."

Because I am an American, I have been waiting for some local competition. It's about time GM stepped up to the plate. Now all we have to do is see if it's a reliable car and do something about the interior.

Of course we could all just say screw it and buy the BMW Carrera GT - V10, 605hp. 0-60mph in 3.8 sec Price: $410,000 (est)[driving]
