Concern about door dings

This is a problem that really pisses me off. I try to keep my cars ding free. I park far away and walk, I never park next to coupe, I always park next to the nicest car in the lot. If I have to parralel park, i make sure there is plenty of room in front and back. I do this every time I park, but sooner or later I'll get a ding. Always on the bumbers first, but eventually on the side as well. I must admit though that the effort does pay off. I'll get the dings but not so bad and definetly fewer than if I were less careful, but damn, I really hate it when it happens.

Avoid parking next to the following:
1. Anything over 20 yrs old (they don't care)
2. Anything with two doors only (their doors are longer & heavier)
3. Anything with signwriting (like a commercial vehicle)
4. Anything that has a baby seat in it (imagine Mom trying to squeeze Jnr into the car)

Bascially I try to park next to the most expensive car I can, they're most likely to give a damn.

am i jaded for accepting the general fate of cars in the real world? dings will happen no matter what, just live with it? (well of course with good precautions..) like not parking next to a rust bucket w/ em huge coupe doors that could take out half your car with one swing..

it sucks, but crying over spilled milk (one spilt by somoene else) is something i learned to stop doing after my first brand new car. your anguish won't bring her back to factory perfection. and i dun mean to rag on the coupes, i own one too, but it's the truth, try to avoid parking next to them if possible!!
