i dunno if this has been posted here before...but

I was at another forum, and ppl were posting "hidden goodies" about their e46. Let's see if we can trade some off here.

1. 2 amber lights that shine light on ur shift knob
2. flash light inside glove box (leftside)
3. open ur trunk from outside when unlocked*
4. first aid under passenger seat

**i cant open mine from inside or outide!! [?|] there is no lever inside and there is supposed to be a button above the license plate but its not there for me!! i can only open with the remote!!?!?!?!? [???1]

No first aid kit in some of ours. The flashlight thread last year was funny, a few of us were running back and forth from the garage to the computer when we found out about the flashlight. [:p]

I need to look for the amber lights, never noticed this.

The amber lights (spooky BMW orange) shine down from where the map lights are at the top of the windshield.

No first aid kit here.
Yes, the amber lights are just back of the map lights in the head liner. They point in an agle ackwards towards the shift knob.

The medical kits are removed before shipment to the US. There were some problems with the medication (aspirin etc...) inside so they have to be removed before shipment. The ones who usually have them are the people who go to Europe to take delivery and take the med. kits back with them in their luggage.

My aunt and I were driving somewhere in her X5. When we parked and were walking away, she realized she had left a window open....she was set to go back into the car, turn the ignition to position two to get electricity to roll the window back up.

I told her to just use her key in the drivers door from outside. Hold it in lock position a few seconds and all the windows go up and the sunroof closes. She was floored...she had her car for over a year! (Same thing works on our 3 series'.)

True, it works great. On the same note, if you have all your windows up, moon roof included, and you press and hold the doors unlock button on the newer remotes it will unroll all of your windows moon roof included.

If you press and hold the trunk release button it will activate lights, blinkers etc... They will flash to ward off anyone close to your car. This could come in handy if someone is near it and you want to scare them off.....

Yeah, the rolling of the windows up from the driver's door lock is pretty neat, too bad it doesn't work on the sunroof with older BMWs, at least not on mine. I was very surprised it did that when I found out almost a year after having the car but before that point it did not work (fixed it accidentally when fixing central locks) so I have an excuse.

Heh, my e36 does not close the sunroof, maybe this feature comes with the alarm which I don't have or maybe there is something else broken that I did not fix.

It's been discussed before, but worth repeating. The Ragtop can be raised and lowered by turning and holding the key in the door lock.

Euro market cars can also use the remote for the ragtop, but officially US cars are not programmed this way due to US liability issues.

You 'wedge' the chock behind the wheel to prevent roll, usually triangle shaped, or rectangle. Also found in use with jumbo jets, and almost every school room door in the country. [;)]

I don't have one. [:(]

I have always known about the amber lights...but they really don't seem to add much. Maybe a little subtle mood lighting...Does any one know of any practical use of them?
