Update-- They're totaling the car... sad to see it die like this. I'm in the market for a 96-97 328is now... 5-speed, there are quite a few in my area on autotrader and a few on ebay... hopefully I'll find a good one!

Did they let you keep the rims? I got some nice rims on now, just wondering if you saved the rims for the new Bimmer you will buy. Do not let them take those rims. Keep them for the new ride.[;)]

Im crying now, I own a 96 bmw 328is, and i cant imagine what you and your car are going through! Im so sorry to hear that, but glad your ok. Did you punch the guy driving the truck? I just bought new Alutec M 17's wheels the other day cause i hit a curb at 50mph and broke my front right stock wheel, and bent the back right one in half. Sorry again!

Man, that is a bad deal. I can totally understand how that happens...I go to college at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY and all of the people there drive so quickly around campus, they're so stupid !! They're just not careful at all, so in return I just drive super-defensive to make sure I don't get into any accidents or anything.
I'm sorry to hear what happened, and I truly hope things work out okay for you.

Yeah we're keeping the rims, whether we have to buy them from the insurance company or we just take them off before they take the car. Thanks everyone for the kind words!

as sad as it is for your nice 328 to die...having the insurance company total the car isn't really that bad. Most of the time you get more than you ever could from selling it yourself and you don't have to argue with the shop or insurance co over bad repairs...you have to promise us to post pics of your new ride! Good luck!

One last update-- then I'll let this thread die [:p]
Insurance company is giving us $14,664 for the car, and we get to keep the M-contour rims and tires. This value also includes our $1000 deductible... so I think we made out pretty well, thanks State Farm!
Hopefully I'll find my next one soon and I'll put pics up when I do [driving]

Yeah the M3 was a thought, but insurance would be through the roof on that. Looks like this '97 328is in Athens, GA (owned by an Athens BMW employee) is the one, pending a good test drive!

Would be awsome to find a used 8 series....but they are not known to be cheap to maintain. They are getting pretty cheap to buy though. Some nice 5 series used out there as well. Just do a long search and be paitent. Lots of used Bimmers on the market.[;)]
