Most cars in Aus seem to be Toyota/Holden/Ford and then things like Hondas and Mazdas.
Mate, I don't know if you have eyes but this isn't quite the case!!! [hihi]

In Melbourne it is frankly quite ridiculous how many luxury imports roll these roads. My dad has always lamented the fact that BMWs are no longer 'exclusive' like they were when he bought his first (3.0L) back in the 70s.

Sure, there are heaps of Aussie cars here, and that's to be expected but don't forget that there are increasingly large numbers of imported cars appearing on the roads here. After all, we've never had it so good in terms of income and economic growth, so it figures.

Good luck with the purchase of that 325i. My mum has one (manual) and it truly kicks arse!

Yeah there has been a large increase in the numbers of imported luxo cars, but I still think that the majority of cars here are Toyotas/Holdens/Fords. They are the top three selling brands in the country, with BMW and Mercedes-Benz not in the top ten at all. I think that for the most part they offer style and affordable motoring and I also think that today's driver is much more aware about the car that they drive. There has been a large increase in the number of medium-luxury cars like the Honda Accord Euro, Mazda 6 and Subaru Liberty, I think these cars offer BMWesque features for around half the price which is why they are also so popular.

Around Sydney, it depends where you are, but around the Eastern Suburbs (snobsville) I think you're the odd one out if you don't drive a BMW or Mercedes. BMWs sales have been increasing steadily for a while now, testament to the fact that they are appealing to a broader audience, but also that people can spend more money on a car. The exclusivity factor has diminished slightly, but there is still the excitment of driving a BMW that can never go, regardless of how many are on the road [:D]

I'm contacting the dealer tomorrow. See if bargaining on a Sunday works [;)] - at any rate, I'll test the theory! My Mum has a 330ci and I love that thing, although personally I like the sports sedan more so than the coupe. Either way... I want it now!

Update: I am now the owner of a black BMW 320i M Sport. White car dealer wasn't in a haggling mood, he wouldn't go under $68,000 drive away, so I looked elsewhere and saw this car. My car now! It's only got 5,600kms on the clock and is an '05 model. It retailed at the dealer for $65,000 drive away, got it for $60,500 thanks to my Dad, the great bargainer. Pick it up on Friday afternoon! Excited as! Black looks really nice with the sport pack... still hasn't quite sunk in that the car is mine. Damn! =D

Good work mate! Is it manual? Can't wait to see some pics. You should plonk it in front of Sydney Harbour and take some snaps. They would look awesome with the water in the background.

Thanks =D I got the Auto... I'm lazy =P I will take it to McMahon's Pt. Awesome view of the bridge and I can park in front of it... albeit illegally. These three days will go slowly, but they can't go as slow as this year that I've been waiting for it!
