what does the speaker button right next to DSC button do? i heard that it turns on the subwoofers. is it true? when i read the manual, it mentioned the accustic sound, and it sounds a little different but i dont think i get more bass when i turn this feature on.

btw, i put some shirts under the linerthing and the rattle went away!!
no more annoying rattle sound...

Yeah that button turns off the subs.

From what I hear, the sound becomes less directional and more spatial, as if some additional sound processing occurs. Sure wish the system incorporated Dolby ProLogic II for simulated 5.1 sound.

Yeah in my 2001 330ci the fron passenger speaker rattles too, I F**kin hate it! How do I resolve that? Thanks....

I have had my dealership look at it several times and they for some reason can not fix it! It is driving me absolutely nuts! I do not know what else to do!

Hey guys, if you are talking about a rattling in the door behind the speakers when the stereo is turned up, kinda sounding like a blown speaker, there is an SI on that. Take it back to the dealership and have them look it up. They install foam blocks on the vapor barrier behind the speakers to stop the rattling. If that is what it is, there IS an SI on it, so it is warranty. It is actually worse on the coupes for some reason.

Service Information. (SI)

They are sent out to BMW techs such as myself at dealers and usually contain fixes for common problems, general information, or recall information. If we start finding a failure on a certain model frequently, chances are a fix will be found and an SI will be sent to all techs explaining it.

My new 2004 330Ci has this exact problem. There is a larger rattle around the passenger door speaker whenever the stereo is at sufficient volume and the sound is at a specific frequency.

Does anyone know where to find the SI information for this problem? I'd like to come prepared when I bring my car into the dealer.

I bought my 04 330ci to fix that problem as well but they said they used a special CD to try it out and can't find the problem ... they even took the side panels out and checked the installation .. everything seems to be fine accorindg to them ...

now the problems seems to go away (maybe because they tighten some screws when checking .. dunnno ....


this problem is very common ..and i thnk they know it already .. no need for SI in this case ..


oh yeah ... better check up your DME as well ... that's the software updates on the 330ci 04 ... this will correct the problem when you have problem starting up in the morning ....

For the record,

The sub-woofer On-Off button is elimintaed in the 04's, woofers are always on. I looked for that button when I took delivery & the saleman informed me of the change.
