ok, so it must just be my deformed fingers, oh well.
but my concern is all the dirt that the bulb must have
touched while i was sticking it back in. Seemed almost
impossible to try to place the bulb w/o touching anything.
I just hope my bulb doesn't die.
By the way, my watts is like 80 or 90 watts (i forget).
Is this going to melt or damage anything? I know the
factory bulbs indicated 55 watts.
With the dirt and the extra wattage, think my car
will explode? [eek] If you see a mushroom cloud over
California....

The Hoen Xenonmatch bulbs I ordered are 55 watts.......I have heard extra wattage may melt the thing.

Do you carry a fire extinguisher in your car????[joke]

hello all all I just replaced my stock lamps with 5000k all around the front. for the fog lamps you can acess them from the wheel wells just pry the plastic retaing clips and pull back on the inner housing up front and you can see the fog lamp assembly you can easily reach your hand in and disconnect the lamp. took me 5 min each side much eaiser than replacing the high and low beams.

When pulling off the black honeycomb assembly surrounding the fog light, should I pry around the edges or use the small hole (top left) by inserting something to tug at? I hate pulling things...not sure how hard to go!

thanks

is the electrical warranty void by changing the fog lights?

hey i've been reading the forum and you guys just don't know how much information i read. Just quick question, I have a 2004 330ci and i've been dying to replace the headlamps and the fog lamp bulbs. Does anybody know what type of bulbs are there for my car. I'm talking about the headlamps that has the Xenon system and the front bumper fog lamps. second, are PIAA lights the best to use or is there any other bulbs that you can recommend. Thanks.

Welcome aboard, your headlights are H7 and the foglights are 9006. Talk to my friend Anthony at AMBulbs.com, perhaps he can cut you a deal if you tell him you are from this forum.

BMWRocks et al, it depends which model you have. Appears most of ya'll have coupes. My friend and I both have sedans ('03 and '04) and it takes about 20 minutes each side to do. Below is a write-up my buddy Matt did (gotta give props where it's due). BTW, on our sedan the fog light bulb type is H11. We both bought the xenon matching bulbs from http://supremepowerparts.com/ ($30 for two bulbs). All though your set-up may be different, some of the steps may apply.

Here is a pic showing OEM (left) vs Xenon-matching (right) fog lamp bulbs.

Enjoy

Step 1: Turn the sides wheel that you are working on all the way towards you. (If the car were moving it would drive into you)

Step 2: There are 4 screws total and 1 pushpin thing that need to be removed. Two 8mm screws on the top of the splash gaurd and two on the bottom of the bumper. The push pin expander thing is on the top of the splash gaurd nearest you. To remove that pry the smaller black part out slowley and then the rest should follow.

Step 3: You need to remove the splash gaurd, I was not able to do this fully on either side but was able to jiggle it around enough to be able to gain access to the bulb. You will notice where you removed the bottom screw nearest you is a tab directly to the front of the hole. Push that pin up so you can slide the splash gaurd back towards the wheel well. You'll need to pull the bumper a bit to get the sides of splash gaurd nearest you out. (All this should make sense when you are looking at it) Important to note there is some sort of temp gauge or something on the bottom part of the drivers side splash gaurd so be careful. The wire behind the splash gaurd for the temp gauge has plenty of slack though.

Step 4: You'll sorta have to slide your arm in the gap that you created to the bulb. Twist the bulb (sorry can't remember which way) You'll feel the bulb come loose, pull out the bulb. Now the wire connected to the bulb has two tabs on either side that need to be unclipped or lifted so you can slide the bulb from the wire. You'll see what I am talking about. Change out the bulb and repeat for the other side.

You want to change your Xenon headlight bulbs??? You want to change them back to Halogens or another pair of Xenon bulbs?

The absolute brightest bulbs you can get are the Philips Vision Plus or the Osram Silver Stars from Http://www.powerbulbs.com/. The bulbs from the Power Bulbs web site are brighter and have a better beam pattern than the ones you can buy within the United States (Power Bulbs is located in England, don't worry, shipping isn't expensive and takes about a week).

i guess i just want to change them to another xenon bulb...which i hope is an H7 as i was told earlier. i just want something that's a lot more whiter and brighter. I also wanted to change the bulbs on my fog lamps so that it would match my Xenons.Sorry if i sound confusing...but are H7's considered xenon as well?

H7 is the bulb size/type. They have the bulb in many different color types. The brightest bulb is the clear one (no tint); however it won't match the xenon color. To get the xenon-color match (or close to it), my bulbs are tinted with a blue-colored coating. Make sure you don't order bulbs any higher in wattage than the OEM ones.

I got the angel eyes from JLevisw.com They are having a special so check it out.
There are tons of other sites who do the same. This mod can be a little complicated and tedious so be patient and meticulous. It looks AWESOME at night; have gotten many compliments.
