Bmwrocks, I just went out in the parking lot at work and took the liner out [fake] it looks like exactly what you are saying, and also the pictures for the installation that were posted.

And you and right about the front bracket/plate, there is no need and probably no such thing, this was some bad information I got. It looks like it just attaches on the sides like you said.

Thanks for the info.

[wave]

I am going to check the hardware that came with the kit tonight and see what I can use to attach the cd.

My 03 330CI come with all prewired for CD changer on the back. and I see the space for it in my trunk..is that mean I can just go get a CD changer and hook it up? since everything is prewired.

Prewire means just that....your vehicle has the wiring harness in the back, already plugged into the head unit in the front.

If you already have the rack in the trunk you can just "hook it up" if you are talking about a BMW OEM CD changer (regular or Alpine OEM'd by BMW). All you will have to do is install the mounting "L" brackets on it, mount it to the existing rack in the trunk, and plug it into the harness. The L brackets are sold seperately (part # 65 12 8 370 925).

If you are talking about an Alpine brand (not OEM by BMW) then you will need the CD changer, the adapter cable, and the Alpine-to-BMW interface connector (see my previous post on this). Then follow the appropriate steps at http://www.bmw325i.net/inst_mp3cd.shtml to finish the install.

Hope this helps.

In the Trunk of my 03 330CI, on the left side there is compament for CD changer, everything is prewired per the sticker. when I open it up There is a black blastic case in it. how do i hook up the CD changer in it. do I have to remove the carpet???

so if I get the OEM changer all I have to do is hook it up???

thanks again for the info man.

I look at the link and my truck look exactly the same on the right side picture with changer setup but doesn't have the changer in it. so i guess I already have everything setup..just need to get a changer and out the liner and then hook it up.

That pic doesn't make sense to me. It doesn't look like the changer. Is that a separate box that mounts and then attaches to the changer via a cable?

I see 4 jacks there (3 on the top and the purple one at the bottom. What do they all connect to?

I am so confused.

Oh man, don't even say that. [:(] [joke]

I hope that everything is not wrong. The cd changer instructions say E46 after 2000, 2001 or something like that.

The box on the back was attached, it came this way. I hope it is not the wrong one.

OK sorry man, my bad!!!!! That part # is correct for our cars. I just realized in that pic the thing is VERTICAL!!!

Now it all makes sense again....almost.

I see where the coax audio attaches.....but where does the 3-pin power attach and what is the purple thing and that big ass jack on the left in your pic????

Also I am close to 100% sure that yours will NOT play MP3s, even tho it is Alpine it is not the MP3 playing one I think.

Also I figured out that yours will fit perfectly in the upper slot with two matching side brackets. Do you agree?

Also I just put in my order to Logjam for the Alpine CHA-S634, the Blitzsafe BMW/ALP DMX V.1DDSP Dual Purpose BMW w/DSP-to-Alpine CD Changer Interface/Auxiliary Input Converter, and the Alpine KCA-130B Ai-NET to M-Bus Adapter.

All for a total cost of $444.85 (no tax, no shipping fee)

The converter and adapter change Alpine AI-Net Interface (from the CD changer) to the BMW DSP coax and also provides a 2-channel RCA aux connector. The CHA-S634 is exactly the same size as the BMW one for fit.

The Alpine CHA-S634 plays MP3s and CDDA on burned CD-R, CD-RW and of course regular commercial CDs with CDDA.

I just spoke with Logjam on the phone and my order will ship on Monday because they are out of the changers but are getting enough to fill my order on Mon. They do not have the Blitzsafe with aux input so they are sending me the one without the aux input and will exchange it for me when they get it. BTW they were VERY helpful, knowledgeable and friendly unlike my BMW dealership who knew nothing about anything when I asked them questions about their unit.

I also spoke with them about connecting it and this is how it goes:
KCA-130B goes from Ai-Net cable on changer to small Blitzsafe box.
3-pin power from our harness goes into small Blitzsafe box.
Coax out of large Blitzsafe box goes into coax on our harmess.
Done.

Side notes:
Side brackets that come with changer may not fit in our rack. Just get the ones from BMW as they will fit on the changer.
Power gets to changer through KCA-130B.
When I get the aux equipped box, it has additional RCA left and right audio inputs to connect any other analog audio source like iPod, DVD player, VCR, etc.
To switch between aux and CD you use up and down track button in rapid succession and the Blitzsafe senses this and switches inputs. Very cool.

I recommend this setup for anyone over the BMW OEM setup.

Especially for you Bryan330i. Send back that antiquated BMW Alpine and get the real Alpine!!!!!!

Whew..........sorry long post.....
